We are looking for 3 trainees to join our Operations Team at RWE to develop their skills and train to become High Voltage (HV) Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) working at voltages up to 400kv, This role is based at London Array (Ramsgate)

 

You will be responsible for implementing the company safety rules to control the HV network and operate the power network to provide safe conditions to put people to work during the Construction and Operations of the Offshore Windfarms. The role requires the skill to witness and undertake testing of plant, checking contractor performance, resolving complex technical issues and the appropriate isolations etc to facilitate works on electrical systems, whilst ensuring that safety is the number one priority.

An element of training will be off site and the apprenticeship is nominally for 30 months albeit this could alter depending on skills and experience. We are looking for candidates who have some electrical experience, that desire to further their careers and work within the Renewables Offshore Sector, in depth knowledge of HV systems and or Offshore Turbines is not essential.

 

About the Role

 

  • It is intended that after completion the individual will assist with commissioning and operational activities on our windfarms
  • They should actively promote a positive safety culture
  • They will develop an understanding of and implement company safety rules and local management procedures
  • They will develop the necessary skills & knowledge to coordinate the HV network operation and coordinate activities across site
  • Have the ability to maximise plant availability and asset integrity
  • Understand complex power networks and provide effective fault diagnosis and manage remediation
  • Liaise with operational stakeholders e.g. Control Room, site management and National Grid/OFTO

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Qualified to ONC/A level in a STEM discipline or equivalent.
  • The ability to work constructively and positively with effective communication skills.
  • Ideally have experience working in the electrical sector or similar industry
  • Some experience of testing electrical systems would be advantageous, however full training will be given.
  • Good knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and a good understanding of Electrical Safety
  • Awareness of HV Systems and Safety Rules, represents a benefit, albeit not a prerequisite
  • Physical ability to complete GWO and Working at height training- working at height and at sea is obviously a central part of the job.
  • IT literate with good computer experience.
