We are transforming our department into a GIS-driven data powerhouse. To support this journey, we are looking for a motivated Working Student (m/f/d) who combines GIS awareness with strategic thinking and a strong interest in digital transformation.

 

This role goes beyond basic mapping. You will analyse how spatial data drive our internal processes, benchmark best-in-class spatially-enabled energy companies, and help define a target GIS operating model that enables fast, innovative and data-driven decision-making.

 

About the role

  • Map and Optimize Spatial Processes to create transparency on how spatial intelligence currently supports our operations.
  • Benchmark Industry Leaders to identify transferable best practices for our department.
  • Identify Data Gaps & Integration needs by analysing integration needs between GIS, ERP, asset management, SCADA and analytics systems
  • Support the design of a departmental GIS target operating model, including a clear GIS data strategy and a transformation roadmap with concrete milestones

 

Job requirements and experience

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program in GIS / Geoinformatics, Geography (quantitative focus), Environmental or Energy Engineering, Civil / Infrastructure Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, Data Science (with spatial focus) or Computer Science (with interest in spatial systems)
  • Excellent command of German and English (written and spoken) as business languages with strong communication and teamwork skills (conducting interviews, supporting workshops, and documenting results in a clear, stakeholder-friendly way)
  • Reliable and independent working style, quick to pick up new topics and proactively drive tasks forward
  • Confident MS Office user (especially Excel/PowerPoint) with the ability to structure and synthesize information/data clearly.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS tools, Python for GIS (e.g., GeoPandas, ArcPy) and  SQL for spatial databases
