Troubleshooting Engineer Nordex (m/w/d)

The Troubleshooting Engineer (TE) is part of the control room team at RWE Renewables. The main task of the Troubleshooting Engineer is to get wind turbines back into operation safely and as quickly as possible after complex faults. For this purpose, the Troubleshooting Engineer communicates with colleagues in the wind farms to help and guide to solve problems, shares knowledge with colleagues in the field and creates and maintains troubleshooting and advanced resetting instructions in central databases.

 

Your tasks:

  • Assist in troubleshooting wind turbines for the teams in the wind farms, on-site or remotely, to make the turbines available again; TE responds to requests and actively checks the portfolio for turbines where support is needed.
  • Knowledge transfer to the technicians in the wind farms
  • Creation and maintenance of troubleshooting guides
  • Creation and maintenance of advanced resetting instructions
  • Working closely with Engineering, identifying relevant cases to Engineering and supporting them in finding and implementing solutions.
  • The TE represents the Operations & Maintenance positions and forwards the O&M views to Engineering.
  • Support the handover from Construction to Operations
  • Continuous training for new versions of software and turbines
  • Identification of 3rd party spare parts for turbines in the operational RWE Renewables fleet
  • Investigation of failed restarts, data analysis and communication with affected teams. Estimation of unavailability and initiation of repairs.
  • Close cooperation with the analysis teams, identification of irregularities and prevention of downtimes
  • Working with the optimisation teams to identify and realise improvement opportunities
  • Perform advanced resets and identify potential additional remote resets
  • Develop a network with the different teams involved from other departments
     

Your profile:

  • Completed engineering studies or comparable education.
  • More than 5 years experience in turbine engineering, troubleshooting technical support, or as a troubleshooting technician, with focus on Nordex turbines
  • Very good knowledge of English, other languages are an advantage
  • Strong experience with SCADA systems
  • Experience in writing troubleshooting manuals
  • Relevant qualifications for working on turbines (working at heights etc.)
  • Ability to impart knowledge and guide others
  • Detailed knowledge of wind turbine operation, design and faults, ability to analyse large amounts of data and identify and troubleshoot causes of faults
  • Qualifications and experience in the operation of high voltage systems are an advantage
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills as well as a high degree of responsibility and commitment
  • Self-initiative, a structured and result-oriented way of working
  • Very good knowledge of English, other languages are an advantage
