This role presents an opportunity for you to play a crucial role in shaping the Technical Safety & Safe System of Works Team within RWE Offshore Wind. As the technical arm of HSE the teams core responsibilities are the UK and Global Safe System of Work application as well as being Subject matter expert on Technical Safety related questions. This position will be focusing on Technical Safety of our Assets including Wind Turbine Generators (WTG), Substations and Foundations as well as innovative Technologies. 

 

About the role

  • Support Development and Construction Project Engineering Teams as a Subject Matter Expert in the area of Technical Safety & Safe by Design in the areas of WTG, Foundation and Substation design
  • Deliver Technical Safety and Safe by design expertise to Technical Innovation and Decommissioning projects.
  • Ensure lessons learned are adopted in RWE Offshore Wind Technical Specifications and Technical Due Diligence assessments for future Offshore assets.
  • Engage with Project HSE Managers to ensure Safety by Design principles are followed, documented and auditable. 
  • Provide insights into industry good practice, through participation in external forums, in order to provide innovative solutions to RWE Offshore with regards Technical Safety.
  • Lead and support Incident Investigations on Asset & Plant Safety Incidents (focus on Construction phase) ensuring suitable and sufficient investigations are undertaken and actions implemented.
  • Interface with project stakeholders to ensure Safe by Design concepts and processes are implemented in relation to Safe Systems of Work.
  • Develop appropriate reporting and KPIs and ensure good collaboration with relevant stakeholders such as Engineering, Development, Construction as well as other HSSE teams. 

 

Job requierments and experience

  • University degree or equivalent (technical apprenticeship and work experience) in an engineering discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant national and international HSE legislation/standards and guidance (e.g. IEC TS 61400-30 and EN50308) for Design, Construction and Decommissioning.
  • Experience in implementing Safe by Design principles and being involved in project design from an HSE perspective.
  • Relevant experience and technical competence in relation to engineering assets including knowledge of operational working routines and processes.
  • Offshore Wind Engineering experience is an advantage as well as practical Asset & Plant Safety or Asset Risk Management experience.
  • Business fluent in written and spoken English, additional language(s) desirable.
  • Ability to work Offshore and willing to travel upon request, including internationally,  in order to support the business.
