As Senior Applied Scientist – Wind Park & Turbine Performance, you will provide expert knowledge in wind park and turbine performance, focusing on power performance testing, data analytics, and warranty management together with relevant stakeholders. You will be pivotal in applying advanced methodologies and data analysis techniques to boost wind turbine and wind farm efficiency, directly contributing to quality delivery and continuous improvement across RWE’s offshore portfolio.
About the role:
- Implementing and refining power curve warranty methodologies, performance tests, measurement campaigns, and post-construction yield assessments.
- Specify and advice on contractual power performance and power curve requirements, and support in the management and resolution of warranty claims and disputes.
- Provision of technical advice for the planning and execution of power performance measurement campaigns, ensuring compliance with international standards and robustness in data acquisition and instrumentation.
- Processing, validating, and analyzing complex operational data using advanced statistical and analytical methods to provide actionable insights for engineering and project teams.
- Contributing to the enhancement of business processes and standardizing best practices across departments.
- Participating in technical reviews, supporting preparation of tenders, risk assessments, and procurement activities with analytical expertise.
- Keeping up-to-date with technological and industry trends to enhance internal methodologies, tools, and practices.
- Advising and supporting colleagues, helping to build technical capabilities within the team.
Job requirements and experience
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Physics, or related discipline
- Substantial experience (typically 5–10 years) in the wind power industry, with focus on power performance testing and analysis
- Solid understanding of industry standards (e.g., IEC 61400-12 series)
- Experience with power curve warranty processes and claims in offshore wind projects preferred
- Proficient in data analysis tools and software (e.g. Python, WindPRO, Windographer, Openwind or similar)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in cross-functional teams
