As part of the Asset Integrity Management Team the Operations Engineer – Balance of Plant (BoP) is responsible for the structural integrity of the foundation systems, secondary steel structures and subsea cables of the NSC Offshore Windfarm. This implies the definition, implementation and optimisation of maintenance and servicing concepts, as well as organisation and implementation of necessary repair campaigns and retrofits, including management of corresponding service contracts.


About the role

  • Responsible for the asset integrity of the balance of plant systems in the windfarm, which includes WTG and OSS foundations, secondary steel structures and subsea cable systems
  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising scheduled maintenance and repair works, managing associated risks, budget and spare parts inventory
  • Main interface to the central Geo Information System (GIS) Team, planning and managing bathymetric surveys and underwater ROV campaigns
  • Monitoring the environmental impact on the foundation structures (by support of a Structure Health Monitoring Systems / SHMS) to ensure asset integrity during lifetime of the windfarm  
  • Compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards, applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide technical support to the operations team. Conduct root cause analysis, develop repair strategies and coordinate related campaigns, in collaboration with RWE central expert teams
  • Managing service contracts and warranty claims with the asset manufacturers (OEMs), service providers and regulators. Supervising statutory inspections for BoP.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement and optimization of maintenance and repair strategies, as well as identifying and realising synergies across the offshore fleet

Job requirements and experience

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, mechanical, civil or electrical engineering
  • Experience in the field of operation and maintenance of offshore foundations, steel structures, subsea cables and subsea conditions as well as proven track record in Project & Stakeholder Management
  • High interest in marine and subsea systems and related work scope
  • Commercial understanding and experience in contract negotiations
  • Experience with SCADA systems and SAP PM/MM an advantage
  • Ability and fitness to work offshore as well as at height
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German
  • As this is a site-based role, we would like you to live within commuting distance of Jemgum/Leer (Germany)

The working location for the initial period is Hamburg. The working location will change to Jemgum once the Nordseecluster office in Jemgum is available in 2026. Flexible arrangements around the location Hamburg can be agreed.
