The Head of Structures and Geoscience is leading a global team of ~90 professionals housed within Offshore Engineering. With a mission to deliver world-class technical expertise in geophysics, geotechnical, metocean, structural, and civil engineering. And a commitment to enabling cost-efficient, sustainable, and safe engineering solutions for Offshore Wind Farms throughout their entire lifecycle. Five teams will be reporting to the Head of Structures and Geoscience.

 

About the role

 

  • Accountable for Strategic Development and Innovation, leads the strategic development of offshore structures technology, geosciences, and GIS, ensuring innovative and advanced practices are standard within your department
  • Lead Technical Specifications and Design Deliverables, accountable for the technical specification of core offshore engineering processes including site condition assessments, development of ground models, and the design and fabrication of foundations
  • Manage the delivery of comprehensive onshore and offshore site/ground investigations, including midocean and environmental surveys, as well as geophysical and geotechnical investigations
  • Implement digitalization and data management activities that support geoscience analysis and foundation design works, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in data processing and reporting
  • Accountable for delivering robust design work for offshore structures, including substations and their foundations, and onshore civil engineering tasks related to substations and cable routing
  • Oversee Team Development and Stakeholder Engagement, Provide direction and guidance to your team, promoting growth and skill development, while managing stakeholder relationships effectively to align with RWE's strategic objectives and project requirements
  • Direct key engineering decisions and project-related technical discussions during all phases of development, construction, and operations, ensuring maximum value and efficiency in delivery

 

Job requirements and experience

 

  • Offshore wind engineering experience in a leadership role with relevant experience across the life cycle of projects
  • Experience of leading teams in a matrix organisation with ability to cooperate and deliver across functional and country boundaries
  • University degree in renewable energy, engineering, project management or equivalent​
  • Proficient ability to analyse, understand and solve complex problems and aggregate decision-relevant information to convey clear, concise messages​
  • Wellbeing and HSE leadership with specific focus on delivering safety in design and execution​
  • Proficient commercial acumen/understanding of complex technological and commercial correlations​
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis​
  • Languages: You have English, and German or other languages are beneficial
