To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

Sofia will be one of the world's largest offshore wind farms and one of the farthest from shore. The project combines advanced turbine technology, complex offshore logistics and extensive engineering expertise.

The SOV Senior Wind Turbine Technician will be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective execution of offshore maintenance activities. Working closely with the SOV Manager, technicians and supporting functions, the role will provide frontline leadership, technical guidance and operational oversight to ensure activities are delivered safely and to the required standards.

The role will support Sofia's operational requirements, including participation in a 24/7 shift rota and extended offshore rotations, typically two weeks at a time.

About the role

  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with RWE procedures, legislation and approved systems of work; review, develop and deliver Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and associated documentation; verify that appropriate permits, competencies, resources and safety controls are in place before work commences; identify and escalate safety concerns, support incident investigations and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Supervise the execution of planned and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting and retrofit activities; monitor progress against operational plans, identifying delays, constraints and opportunities to improve productivity; ensure work packages are prepared with the necessary tooling, materials, personnel and documentation; communicate operational progress, risks and changing priorities to the SOV Manager and supporting functions.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for offshore technicians, providing guidance during maintenance and troubleshooting; support fault diagnosis across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and turbine control systems; utilise OEM SCADA systems for fault identification and authorised remote interventions.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to identify recurring faults, develop solutions and support retrofit implementation; contribute to the development and delivery of the self-perform maintenance strategy.
  • Ensure maintenance records, technical findings and parts consumption are accurately; monitor work quality and ensure activities meet technical and operational requirements; identify opportunities to reduce repeat defects, downtime and non-productive activities.
  • Liaise with suppliers and support functions to ensure appropriate equipment, tooling and materials are available; contribute to operational performance reviews and standardised working practices.
  • Provide daily supervision, direction and technical support to offshore technicians; support technician development, coaching and competence progression.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork and effective communication across offshore and onshore teams; support effective shift handovers and the resolution of operational issues.
