An exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking creative team, operating the UK Central Control Room which provides critical services to the RWE Offshore Wind Operations portfolio. Utilising your technical, process operations or other systems related experience you will be responsible for fault resets, marine co-ordination and responding to grid instructions from NESO. The role is career-focused and offers significant opportunities for personal development to a motivated individual.

 

The UK Central Control Room is a 24/7 function in which the operators are responsible for managing the following activities across multiple UK Offshore windfarms.

 

About the role:

  • Utilise SCADA systems and other computer programmes to interrogate the wind turbine controller, reset faults, instigate maintenance activities, and build up fault histories. Managing the operational performance of the UK portfolio whilst maintaining asset safety
  • Necessary authorisations under the RWE Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and Operational Safety Rules (HV). Responsible for the release of plant to authorised technicians and competent persons offshore whilst maintaining compliance with safety rules across the portfolio
  • Carry out marine coordination responsibilities, managing vessel and people movements within the windfarms
  • Act as Incident Controller in line with the Emergency Response Plans, liaising with the emergency services as required during any incidents
  • Perform communication with offshore parties by means of marine VHF, TETRA UHF and satellite phone communications
  • Responding to grid instructions to maintain compliance and conducting REMIT reporting
  • Entering production data into EDL (Electronic Despatch and Loading) for generation forecasting for each respective windfarm
  • Entering work notifications in the MMS Maintenance Management System for emerging work on faulted equipment

 

Job requirements and experience:

  • Can troubleshoot complex systems and show a high level of understanding when interrogating controller faults
  • A sound understanding of HSSE systems, an ability to establish and maintain a safe work environment, and an understanding of reporting procedures
  • Be a focused and motivated individual with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Knowledge and experience of safety rules both Wind Turbine and High Voltage 
  • Knowledge and experience of energy or generation asset operations
  • Effective communication skills and works well when handling tight deadlines in a dynamic setting
  • Knowledge and experience of electronic maintenance management systems
  • Have the capacity to manage a demanding and fluctuating workload
  • IT literate. Familiar with Microsoft packages

 

Advantageous, but not essential:

  • Experience working with Wind Turbine SCADA or similar systems is beneficial
  • Experience with marine co-ordination requirements and VHF/TETRA marine radio communications

 

Applicants must live within a one-hour drive from the site for operational purposes

 

An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.
