Functional area: Operations & Maintenance
An exciting opportunity to join our Operations and Maintenance team at Scroby Sands Offshore Windfarm, which consists of 30 Vestas 2MW Wind Turbines. Utilising your background knowledge and experience in the field of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, preferably within the Wind Industry, you will be expected to provide a high level of asset-specific technical knowledge and skills within the discipline area.
This is a staff position and will be based at the Operation and Maintenance site in Great Yarmouth, working on a Monday to Friday basis along with occasional on-call requirements, including weekends.
About the role:
- Ensure the site remains compliant with UK statutory legislation & RWE’s internal policies
- Implement initiatives to improve the management of site safety and provide contributions to company safety objectives
- Develop and enhance maintenance strategies
- Provide technical guidance and support to Wind Turbine Technicians
- Participate in and manage technical investigations into various failures and implement required improvements and modifications
- Work closely with:
- The Production Team to plan, schedule, and deliver maintenance works efficiently to optimise cost and enhance plant performance
- Logistics Coordinator to ensure site spares or stock holdings are adequate by having an overview of upcoming maintenance activities
- Management of key site contracts and effectively coordinating planned work for contracted staff
- Responsible for the creation and review of safety documentations that include Operational Procedures, Method Statements, Approved Written Procedures, and Risk Assessments
- Enact the role of Duty Engineer which consists of:
- 24/7 cover for 1 in 4 weekends for safety, emergency and technical issues response
- Be within 1hr travel distance from site whilst on call
- Respond to site emergencies by enacting the Incident Controller role
- Responsible for setting Contractors to work at weekends. Issue and receive safety documents and work progress updates
- Obtain authorisation as:
- Safety Coordinator, Senior Authorised Person, Authorised Person, Competent Person and Nominated Supervisor under Operational Safety Rules
- Authorising Engineer, Authorised Technician, Competent Technician & Operational Controller under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules
- Comply to the company’s HSSE standards and ensure these requirements are adhered to and consistently promoted at all times
Job requirements and experience:
- Ability to apply skills and knowledge practically and efficiently. Provide a consistent approach to identify opportunities for improvement, cost saving, and simplification
- Be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively within a small team to deliver objectives
- Be prepared to have a flexible approach to working hours around the weather and workload, to be on call outside of normal working hours, and be flexible to travel to other sites within the fleet
- Basic computer operation skills, good familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office, and ability to generate and interpret computer data from SAP, SCADA, and other company operating systems
- Proficient in logistic planning and communication skills
- Hold a clean and valid UK Driving Licence, be able to travel by sea, and able to work at height
- A demonstrated Engineering or maintenance background with a high level of asset-specific technical knowledge, ability, and maintenance skills within various Engineering disciplines
Advantageous but not essential:
- Existing authorisations as Authorising Engineer under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules and as Senior Authorised Person under the Operational Safety Rules along with experience with High Voltage switching experience
- HNC or Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline
- A few years’ experience within the Renewables, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Power Generation Industry
- IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
