As a UC Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the reliable operation, support, and further development of Unified Communications services within RWE IT Infra – with a special focus on Cisco video conferencing systems based on Microsoft Teams Rooms. You will help ensure smooth day-to-day collaboration by maintaining modern UC platforms and supporting users and events across our global locations.

 

Your responsibilities

 

Your main tasks as UC Engineer will include:

 

  • Operate and support Unified Communications (UC) systems and services, especially Microsoft Teams Rooms, video conferencing hardware, and meeting room technology
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for international UC services (incident and request handling, troubleshooting)
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of UC devices
  • Ensure integration of systems into RWE’s IT landscape, including Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Intune
  • Monitor system health and performance, conduct updates and firmware rollouts
  • Maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures
  • Provide technical support for hybrid and in-person meetings or events, including setup and live troubleshooting
  • Participate in service improvements and standardization of UC environments

Your powerful skills
 

  • Solid experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, conferencing hardware (e.g. Cisco Room Devices), and UC platforms (Teams, Webex)
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Intune, Exchange and EntraID or Active Directory
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based operations and security policies
  • Good understanding of networking (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS) and media technology (audio/video)
  • Soft Skills:
    • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset and strong sense of ownership
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a structured working approach.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an international setting
    • Creative thinking and a passion for driving innovation
    • Good knowledge of written and spoken English; German is a plus.

 

 

Advantageous, but not a must

  • Experience with room scheduling systems, event support, or broadcasting setups
  • Interest in scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell)
  • Certifications in Microsoft or Cisco UC technologies
