Your role

The Sustainability department at RWE’s unit Offshore Wind coordinates and drives the sustainability strategy and initiatives in our Offshore activities. As a team we are shaping the way how we grow globally with the aim to position RWE Offshore Wind as a sustainable sector leader. Do you want to become our colleague and make a difference?

 

We do have the right job for you as Senior Sustainability Manager Biodiversity if you are enthusiastic about leading and steering a global portfolio of initiatives targeted to reach our CEO-sponsored and Board of Directors monitored (marine) biodiversity goals in close collaboration with colleagues in the wider business. You also enjoy supporting others incl. senior management in embedding sustainability in our business processes and decisions with your profound knowledge on (marine) biodiversity & ecology / (marine) net gain. 

 

Your future plans

  • You own and drive complex multidisciplinary initiatives that enable us to achieve our group-wide (marine) biodiversity & ecology / net-gain goals including:
    • Initiate and drive the delivery of selected initiatives/pilots yourself, including securing financing and budget responsibility
    • Supervise the delivery of initiatives/pilots owned by other functions
    • Develop, initiate and implement new initiatives/pilots in close cooperation with the wider business, supporting tender requirements across markets and in line with leading standards and international and national programs
    • Manage overall pipeline of existing and potential future initiatives/pilots, including financing, progress reporting and consolidation for regular strategy review
  • You initiate and facilitate the communication of good practice / lessons learned and the deployment of initiatives and expertise within different business functions, incl. but not limited in origination & development, construction, operation and engineering
  • You provide a clear view and analysis on sustainability trends (with a focus on (marine) biodiversity topics) of relevance to the Offshore sector including frameworks, competitor & market analysis to enable informed strategic and business decisions and to facilitate the development and driving of senior management views on the topic
  • Acting as point of contact for RWE Group and other RWE Units on (marine) biodiversity you direct and shape RWE Offshore’s involvement in group-wide or RWE cross business-unit biodiversity projects and activities
  • You identify, tender, select and steer external contractors, partners and consultants where required
  • With confidence you represent RWE Offshore globally at conferences and meetings (e.g. in industry associations, stakeholder discussion at EU and national level) through proactive networking, conference panel attendance and presentations. You engage in the exchange and networking with academic institutions, nature conservation groups, and investors & partners
  • As a senior team member you enjoy supporting junior team members to grow and the steering of an internal network for biodiversity experts
  • You support and develop additional activities in line with the Offshore Sustainability strategy and targets

 

Your profile

  • You have a university degree e.g. in engineering, environmental sciences, biology or ecology, business administration or a comparable discipline ideally with energy technology experience
  • Moreover, you have several years of relevant work experience in the field of sustainability consulting and/or in related sustainability areas, with a recognizable expertise on (marine) biodiversity or ecology, habitat management and monitoring in an international environment
  • You convince us with your proven experience in project coordination with cross-functional project teams and various internal & external stakeholders internationally
  • You are a person who likes being part of a team. Your way of working is independent, structured and conscientious
  • Furthermore, you convince us with your very good communication skills, persuasiveness and confident manner, also in an international environment
  • Others can feel your authentic enthusiasm for sustainability including trends, relevant frameworks and tools. You are open whenever topics and focus in your role might change over time
  • You enjoy working in an international environment, using your proficient oral and written English skills and are willing to regular travel mainly within Europe
  • A commercial background and other languages skills are a welcome plus
