Senior Quantitative Structurer m/f/t

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, Essen, Germany (DE)

To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent

Your future plans

An opportunity currently exists for a senior structurer in the department Applied Structuring. The team is part of Structuring & Valuation and focuses on the assessment and management of complex commodity risks (power, gas, coal, oil, carbon, metals and LNG) associated with RWE Supply & Trading's trading and origination business.

Within RWE Supply & Trading the Applied Structuring team is responsible for the structuring and valuation activities of major commodity transactions and for quantitative support for trading desks and origination teams. We expect you to contribute to the team's main activities comprising pricing of transactions, including trading and sales products, power plants, storage assets and other complex products like renewables PPA. You will also provide quantitative support to the traders and originators by developing and improving hedging, calibration and position management techniques.

Further tasks include the development of new and innovative products for both trading and origination, plus the provision of ad hoc support to the trading desks. In addition you will advise counterparties and internal clients on the quantitative aspects of commodity market price risks.

Your powerful skills

Given our close interaction with traders and originators, we would value a commercially focussed and pragmatic attitude to work as well as a strong quantitative background. In order to be successful, you will need several years of professional experience in the front office of a commodity-trading house or in a banking environment. You should have an advanced numerate degree (for example in finance, maths, sciences, engineering or economics), very good theoretical knowledge of derivative instruments, and an in-depth understanding of valuation and pricing techniques as well as machine learning techniques.

Furthermore, you should demonstrate very strong economic, market and financial analysis skills. Very good IT skills are important (knowledge of an object-oriented language (preferable Python) and statistical packages are essential); you should also have good knowledge of SQL, a solid understanding of databases and the ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical real-world situations. A results-oriented personality and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines are required as well.

Fluency in German and English, very good communication skills, the ability to develop links to all interfaces and clients, including trading, origination and sales desks, an entrepreneurial attitude to identifying business and market opportunities for RWE Supply & Trading GmbH and being a good team player, while also being able to work autonomously, should also be among your range of talents.

Benefits you can rely on

At RWE, you will find all the advantages of a large technology group. And some merits that are even more crucial: openness and real team work. For we are open to the future and are building on the strengths of each and every individual. We value his/her work and opinion; we listen, pursue active ideas management and engage in direct exchanges. Respect, appreciation and mutual trust are the hallmarks of cooperation within the international RWE team.
