Then the position of Senior Valuation Expert in Controlling & Risk Management at RWE AG is exactly right for you.
You will work in the Valuation & Risk department within Controlling & Risk Management at RWE AG. The team is responsible for the economic valuation of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) and major investment projects, as well as for Group-wide risk management. This includes reviewing business plans, preparing scenario and sensitivity analyses, conducting financial due diligence, optimising M&A contracts from a financial perspective, and preparing decision papers for the Executive Board of RWE AG.
About the role
- Coordinating valuation processes and preparing valuation models and financial impact analyses for Group-wide M&A projects (buy-side and sell-side), including onshore and offshore wind, hydropower and photovoltaic projects, as well as pumped-storage and battery-storage facilities and gas-fired power plants.
- Discussing results and recommendations at Executive Board level.
- Actively challenging valuation processes for major new-build and investment projects across RWE’s operating businesses.
- Continuously developing the Group-wide valuation principles and guidance, including responsibility for the corresponding guidelines.
- Supporting and further developing Group-wide activities, such as the valuation expert network and initiatives to improve decision-making, while working closely within Group Controlling and with other financial, commercial and technical functions.
- Actively developing AI-powered valuation tools.
- Independently supporting and onboarding new colleagues.
Job requirements and experience
- Excellent university degree with a focus on business, finance or mathematics, or another quantitative background.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in controlling, finance or valuation, together with expert knowledge of M&A and investment valuation.
- In-depth knowledge of valuation methods and capital market theory, as well as the ability to independently build valuation models and guide colleagues in doing so.
- A high level of intrinsic motivation and a willingness to lead challenging projects to success through personal commitment.
- A results-oriented working style and the ability to solve complex problems independently, even under time pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting working relationships within the team and with other departments or external partners.
- A strong interest in personal development and in taking on new areas of responsibility, combined with the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with complex subject areas.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Advantageous, but not essential
- An additional qualification, such as a doctorate or CFA qualification.
- General knowledge of energy-sector markets, technologies, opportunities and risks, preferably with a focus on renewable energy.
