The Data & Architecture team provides the data and architecture foundation required to deliver a unified AI platform and scale AI use cases across RWE. As Principal Data Architect – Data Governance & Standards, you will help shape the foundations for trusted, AI-ready data across RWE. Working closely with experts from our operating companies, you will drive common approaches to data architecture and governance, aligning business priorities and enabling coordinated progress across the Group. Through expertise, collaboration, and influence, you will connect stakeholders and guide strategic decisions without direct authority.

About the role

  • Co-develop the Group Data Reference Architecture with OpCo, domain and platform experts, covering data models, metadata, lineage, interoperability, integration patterns and reusable data products.
  • Build alignment on shared data architecture and guide standards through the relevant approval processes.
  • Establish common inventory approaches and priorities to consolidate key data assets, identify additional data-capture needs and highlight opportunities for reuse.
  • Align data maturity and quality assessments across completeness, accuracy, consistency, coverage and timeliness, while tracking prioritized remediation plans with clear responsibilities.
  • Bring business experts and data stewards together to establish common taxonomies, business glossaries and KPI definitions and resolve inconsistencies across OpCos.
  • Coordinate AI-ready asset profiles covering AI relevance, proprietary value for RWE, access methods and usage restrictions in collaboration with business, technology, AI, Legal and Cyber Security stakeholders.
  • Facilitate a common approach to data ownership, stewardship and custody, coordinate OpCo nominations and maintain transparency while business owners retain accountability and decision-making.
  • Convene the expert network, facilitate cross-OpCo decisions, coordinate dependencies and milestones, critically review inputs and escalate gaps.

Job requirements and experience

  • University degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or related field.
  • Strong enterprise or domain data architecture experience, combined with practical data governance expertise in a complex or federated organisation.
  • A solid understanding of data modelling, metadata and lineage, data quality, business glossary and KPI semantics, APIs and data products.
  • Enough technical depth in SQL, data profiling and catalog tools to guide specialists, challenge proposals and review evidence confidently.
  • The ability to influence without direct authority, navigate competing priorities and bring business and technology stakeholders to shared decisions.
  • Structured delivery skills, clear communication in English, and a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Energy-sector knowledge and experience with AI-ready data products.
