Join the RWE Renewables team as a Civil Engineer supporting onshore wind and PV projects in Germany and help us shape the future of renewable energy.

 

The Project Engineering Germany department provides technical support and technical expertise in the development, construction and operation of our wind farms in the specialist areas of Resource Assessment, Site Suitability, Civil and Electrical Engineering.

 

Your activities in the Civil Engineering department

Contact person for our project developers during project development, LPH 1-5 and 6-7:

  • Assessment and development of transport concepts for wind turbines and a preliminary wind farm layout.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of the geological conditions, tendering and evaluation of the subsoil and foundation expertise.
  • Development of the wind farm layout, in particular the construction roads and crane parking areas, for the design and approval planning, taking into account the geological conditions encountered, planning law requirements and land availability.
  • Preparing and participating in the awarding of planning and construction services, in particular earthworks and, if necessary, special civil engineering works.
  • Participate in site visits to coordinate with internal disciplines of other departments and external project partners regarding technical issues relevant to planning.


Contact person for our construction teams during construction, LPH 6-7 and 8:

  • Preparing and participating in the award of planning and construction services, in particular earthworks and, if applicable, special civil engineering works, evaluating special proposals and change proposals.
  • Support in construction supervision, in control inspections and in acceptances including independent identification and evaluation of deviations and defects.
  • Participation in site visits to identify and clarify construction-related problems with internal and external project participants.
  • Supporting the project management in the evaluation of supplements.


Contact person for our operations teams during the operations phase:

  • Management and implementation of special projects in operation, e.g. conversion measures or continued operation.
  • Support in the assessment of defects and warranty claims as well as maintenance measures and repairs.
  • Participation in site visits to identify and clarify construction-related issues with internal and external project participants.


Your activities will be carried out in close coordination with our project developers, our construction teams and our operations teams, as well as with your direct colleagues from other specialist areas such as electrical engineering and with other internal specialist disciplines in other departments such as wind turbine engineering.

Some of the activities mentioned above are performed under your leadership by external engineering consultants and experts.

In addition to project work, you will alternate with your colleagues to lead organisational projects such as the development, coordination and implementation of internal standards, processes and other improvement measures.

 

Your profile

  • Successfully completed university degree in civil engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering and above-average expertise in the planning and tendering of wind farms or other infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in tendering engineering services and managing external engineering firms and consultants.
  • Extensive knowledge in the application of relevant technical standards and guidelines, especially in the fields of earthworks, geotechnics and reinforced concrete construction.
  • Good knowledge in the use of AutoCAD, Infraworks or comparable planning software.
  • Good knowledge of VOB and HOAI.
  • Project management skills and ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks independently.
  • Ability to work in a team and interest in interdisciplinary tasks, combined with the ability to build sustainable working relationships in project teams across regions and functions.
  • Business fluent in German and good English skills.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel on business, usually for one day.
