The Senior Business Development Manager (d/f/m) will work closely with the Offshore Development Germany team to develop new opportunities in the offshore market as well as support the expansion of RWE Renewables' leading role in offshore wind in Germany. The individual selected for this role at RWE will play a critical part in a company aiming for significant expansion goals. Your main location will be in our offices in Hamburg or Essen, with the possibility to work partly remotely. Your line manager will be the Head of Project Services Germany.
 

About the role

• Execution and implementation of the growth strategy by opening up new development and auction opportunities in the offshore wind sector in Germany
• Independent development of recommendations for action, preparation of decision templates and provision of general commercial expertise for management on portfolio topics in the German market
• Development of hypotheses for various market and technology scenarios as well as conducting sensitivity analyses to identify risks and opportunities 
• Analysis of regulatory framework conditions and their impact on project profitability as well as formulation of optimization options in coordination with relevant experts
• Initiation, planning and management of interdisciplinary strategic projects in close cooperation with other functions in the company
• Positioning of RWE as a trustworthy and reliable partner in Germany and representation of RWE at congresses and trade fairs as well as to relevant authorities and stakeholders
• Cultivation of ongoing relationships with external partners and representation of RWE's commercial interests 

Job requirements and experience

• University degree in engineering, renewable energy, economics or equivalent
• Commercial expertise with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector in the areas of trading, investment management or business development
• Expert project management skills with experience in leading strategic projects 
• Strong commercial acumen and mindset, as well as an eye for identifying and assessing risks
• Strong knowledge of the German (wind) energy market and its regulatory framework
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders (incl. C-level)
• Analytical and strategic skills, coupled with a high level of results orientation and the ability to deliver high-quality results in a timely manner in demanding environments
• Fluency in English and German required
