The lean team at RWE consists of experts and those who are on their way to become those. The team is responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within RWE AG and the RWE group and across the entire RWE group. It plays a major role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding of lean methodology to deliver successful business transformation.


For one, they do so by delivering and adapting RWE’s lean program called New Way of Working (NWoW). NWoW aims to develop lean methodologies and the lean mind-set in every part of the organisation, focusing on our management support functions. The program combines the areas transformation/digitalisation, leadership & direction and change with an end-to-end process approach. 
For another, our lean team is an enabler for making a difference to teams, processes and products where there is a requirement for improvement by setting up and executing all sorts of transformation projects that are tailored to the individual needs of our clients. With an agile mind-set and a systematic approach to making long-lasting efficiencies, you will regularly challenge the status-quo with a solid background and understanding in projects, lean transformation or integration programmes and improvement processes.

This is how you create impact with your team – for the greater good
You will engage in job responsibilities such as the following:

  • Lead and guide project teams working on lean initiatives by coaching and training them with respect to lean best practices
  • Design and implement strategies and programs on lean principles, robotic process automation, and operational excellence with a focus on cross-functions of the RWE group
  • Collaborate with management and clients to discuss goals & objectives
  • Devise and present lean approaches & recommendations for management
  • Lead and facilitate lean & process improvement based workshops in agile formats (using modern methodologies like Design Thinking, Scrum, Kanban etc.) to drive ideas and solutions
  • Establish a continuous improvement monitoring system tailored to the clients’ needs
  • Develop and execute effective communications, learning and reinforcement strategies to support successful change initiative implementation and sustainment
  • Combine cross-functional skills, project and programme management to create scope for continuous improvement
  • Foster employee engagement and ensure successful change acceptance and management
  • Be a trustful sparring partner and role model as leader in championing lean

The successful candidate will act as a catalyst across the organization for business performance and efficiency improvement along with process change. Their primary values shall include objectivity, client satisfaction, entrepreneurship, integrity and professional fulfilment. Therefore we are looking for the following in our candidates:

  • Excellent completed university degree (any discipline); an MBA or any equivalent certification is a strong asset
  • Significant work experience in implementing continuous improvement in a complex organization, preferably in a consulting environment or as part of a large organization
  • Lean/six sigma certification or comparable process engineering qualification in the field, exceptional understanding of continuous improvement concepts and methods such as value stream mapping and Design Thinking
  • Excellent project management & presentation skills
  • Expertise in designing & facilitating workshops and training sessions with a range of senior business stakeholders
  • Strong team player encouraging a collaborative working environment and appreciative feedback mentality
  • Experienced in coaching teams and leaders to adopt agile ways of working and leaders in developing their leadership mindset, e.g. using Scrum of Scrums, as a Kanban Lead
  • Passion for analytical, complex problem-solving and systems thinking as well as creative and strategic thinking skills
  • Outstanding people & leadership skills and the ability to engage, influence and convince all levels of the organization and build mutually trustful customer relationships
  • Willingness to travel for certain client meetings and workshops
  • Fluent in English and German
