The team “Civil & Electrical Engineering” as part of the “Wind Turbine, Quality, Civil & Electrical  Engineering” Department is looking for a Lead expert Electrical Components engineer to drive Operational Engineering support across Europe and Australia and optimization of electrical Balance of Plant incl. Electrical components on portfolio level for wind, solar and BESS. Activities range from optimizing technical standards and specifications over strategic assessment and evaluation of Electrical components suppliers and their products.

 

Your tasks:

  • Operational support:
    • Serving as global technical authority for all relevant technical aspects, incl. key recommendations/ escalations, in relation to “Electrical Components”, with strong business & stakeholder orientation 
    • Establishing and approving global technical standards, specifications and procedures for the sub-discipline “Electrical Components” in line with safety and business needs, strategic targets and industry’s latest technical development
    • Developing and approving for “Electrical Components” related aspects of technical designs, Root Cause Analyses and plant modifications
    • Supporting Operations with self-performance/OPEX optimisation projects 
  • Assessment and evaluation:
    • Leading technical prequalification of electrical components (e.g. eBoP, turbine, PV, etc.). This includes analysing/challenging supplier input and providing critical review of performance, chances/risks, etc.
    • Actively participating in FAT’s and factory quality audits
    • Working together with Procurement on commercial framework agreements
  • Optimization:
    • Identifying technical optimization opportunities within the business (gaining efficiency and reliability) 
    • Driving standardization on EBOP design
    • Striving to share best practice and consistency of approach across regional teams with an eye on LCOE Optimization 
    • Fostering a technical “Electrical Components” community promoting standardization, best practices sharing, optimization and sustainability
  • Influencing the industry and external representation:
    • Influencing industry trends and standards to the benefit of the business and acts as key contributor to the international standard committees for “Electrical Components”
    • Serving as ambassador in promoting the external reputation of the company’s Engineering excellence (e.g., towards future partners, the supply chain, regulators, standards institutions) in relation to the expert subject matter.

 

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed university studies in relevant electrical engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Several years of relevant and proven substantial work experience with HV Electrical components
  • Preferably, asset management experience, including operation strategies and design improvements
  • Excellent understanding of commercial implications of engineering decisions and track record in adding business value through applying own technical capability.
  • Strong communication & stakeholder management skills with ability to effectively communicate with Management and negotiate with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills
  • Social competence, high level of engagement and intercultural mind set
  • High standard of ethical behaviour to uphold RWE Renewables’ reputation and commitment to core values and code of conduct
  • Flexibility to travel domestic and internationally
  • Fluent English language skills, additional languages are an advantage
