The Accounting division of RWEST is responsible for managing the accounting of commodity trades in the context of RWE's global trading business, as well as the segment financial statements of RWEST.
Our department CAO (Commercial Asset Optimisation) Accounting is the central commodity accounting service provider for RWE Group’s conventional and renewable assets, working closely with RWEST’s Commercial Asset Optimisation (CAO) and Risk & Controlling departments as well as the Accounting functions of all other RWE Operating entities.  

Your future plans 

  • Develop and lead a team of accountants in Germany and UK and provide dotted line support to equivalent teams in the US and APAC as part of a governance role
  • Oversee all realised and unrealised (derivative) accounting activities for CAO and Commodity Solutions (large industrial customersCS) desks across Europe
  • Act as the key liaison point for Deloitte (group auditor) regarding RWEST IFRS & local HGB accounts particularly related to CAO topics 
  • Manage financial accounting activities for a €1bn CO2 strategic position. 
  • Ensure accurate production and posting of all margin-related items for Offshore, OPEA Onshore & Solar (excluding Australia), Conventional & Flexible Generation, and Lignite Power operating segments. 
  • Serve as the key contact to Risk and Controlling for all CAO reporting requirements from Accounting. 
  • Represent MFA RWEST accounting in key IT projects, such as Combine (renewables system integration) and S4 Hana future projects. 
  • Implement audit recommendations in the CAO accounting arena
  • Drive standardisation and harmonisation across the CAO teams in all countries, ensuring more cross border knowledge and skills sharing
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in order to drive efficiency and reduce month end working times
  • Contribute as a key member of RWEST accounting management team including helping to drive the team forward in an aligned way
     

Your powerful skills  

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong technical foundation.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects, develop structured plans, and drive them to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a cross-border team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the capability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong relationship management skills, fostering collaboration across multiple countries and business entities to develop common solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to senior management.
  • High level of commitment, initiative, and teamwork, with a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP and MS Office (Excel, Access), with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent command of German and English


Advantageous, but not a must

  • Good knowledge of energy trading
  • Knowledge of generating asset margins and market mechanics
