About the role

As a Data Management & Governance Expert, you will shape the continued development of Data Management and Data Governance at RWE Generation. In this interface role, you connect Business, IT and Architecture. You ensure that data can be used reliably, transparently, securely and with measurable value, and that governance requirements are considered early in business processes, IT solutions and architecture decisions.

  • You develop and improve binding policies, standards, roles and decision-making processes for Data Management and Data Governance.
  • You establish Data Ownership and Data Stewardship and embed clear responsibilities within the business functions.
  • You translate business requirements and strategic goals into clear data, governance and architecture requirements and facilitate alignment between Business and IT.
  • You work with Enterprise, Solution and Data Architects and ensure that governance principles are reflected in target architectures, data platforms and transformation initiatives.
  • You analyse end-to-end data flows, data models, applications, interfaces and integration solutions and assess them in terms of quality, security, scalability and reusability.
  • You define standards and key performance indicators for data quality, metadata, data classification, Data Lineage and the data lifecycle and prepare decisions for governance bodies and management.
  • You advise business functions and leaders, make technical dependencies and risks understandable, and support Compliance, Data Protection, Information Security and the sustainable transition towards a data-driven organisation.

Job requirements and experience

  • You have completed a degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Data Science, Information Management or a comparable discipline.
  • You have minimum five to seven years of professional experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Data & Analytics or a comparable role.
  • You are familiar with established Data Governance approaches and have strong experience in Data Ownership, Data Stewardship, data quality, metadata management, data catalogues, Data Lineage or Master Data Management.
  • You understand the relationships between business strategy, business processes, data, applications, interfaces and technology and can assess how architecture decisions affect quality, risk and business value.

  • You have a sound understanding of Data Architecture and Enterprise Architecture, enabling you to understand and critically review target states, principles and dependencies and translate them into governance requirements, even though you are not required to design the architecture yourself.
  • You are familiar with modern cloud and data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and Azure Databricks, and can explain their use, opportunities and risks clearly to Business and Management.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently, facilitate different interests and maintain an overview in complex cross-functional decisions. Excellent German and English skills complete your profile.
