We’re currently looking for a (Senior) Quantitative Developer and Architect to leave a foot print in our front office software landscape. This is more than just a role – it’s your chance to define the future of analytic tools and libraries that power the energy industry. The Quantitative Development team within the Structuring & Valuation (S&V) department in Essen is responsible to maintain, develop and support analytic tools and libraries for all commercial departments globally. The tools are mainly used for pricing derivatives or contracts and the optimisation of thermal assets and went through a quality assurance process to ensure our ability to provide first class solutions for our stakeholders.
About the role
- Development of a new library aimed at centralising existing functionality:
- Enhancing our code base written in C#, C++, Python.
- Tailoring for various target architectures, both local and service-based.
- Transferring existing libraries / models.
- Contribute to the maintenance, development and support our mid-term thermal asset optimisation tools (real option model) written in C++.
- Collaborate with teams across trading, commercial asset management, risk and IT.
- Delivery of solutions that meet diverse, real-world challenges.
Job requirements and experience
- University degree (Diploma / Masters / PhD) in applied Math / Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong experience in OOP using C# (.NET8), C++ , Python and an attitude towards agile working style.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing financial libraries and complex analytic models for pricing and risk management.
- Very good communication, problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to translate complex requirements into software solutions efficiently, autonomously and with a high quality.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) and solid German language skills.
Advantageous, but not essential
- Knowledge of products in the energy market / commodity market.
- Work experience in the energy / commodity trading industry.
