Would you like to be part of the RWE IT Infrastructure department supporting the delivery of change and technical innovation for the group? 
Reporting to the Lead of FinOps Practioner within the Cloud & Datacentre team (C&DC), this role will help build the knowledge, team and policies that will help our organisation understand and control costs in the Cloud. Working closely with colleagues in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Platform, Finance and Commercial you will develop and operate a robust program for Cloud Financial Management that includes but is not limited to tagging frameworks and governance model, budgets, cost optimisation lifecycle, chargebacks and finance integration.

  • Utilising Cloud native and third-party cost management toolsets to drive commercial and cost avoidance optimisations across our Cloud estate based on Azure
  • Provide expert knowledge on cloud cost optimization strategies (e.g. rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, scheduling, processor/instance types)
  • Building, maintaining, and improving custom reports and dashboards to deliver weekly/monthly cost reporting based on Power BI platform
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Platform teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices
  • Defining and implementing a new FinOps governance framework and roadmap of FinOps activity to maximise and optimise our Cloud spend
     

Your powerful skills 

  • Strong experience of Cloud cost optimisation and the Cloud FinOps sector
  • A strong understanding of Azure compute technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Cloud pricing schemes
  • Moderate FinOps meetings with DevOps engineers, documenting collaborative agreed approach and setting the objectives for the evolving dashboard reporting 
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and executing commitment-based savings plans for Azure, Cloud cost management tooling and building dashboards
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear, effective written and oral communication
  • Cultural awareness and willingness to travel (largely between UK and Germany)

Advantageous, but not a must

  • Ideally certified at foundation level for respective platform (Azure compute technologies)
