Technical Innovation Partner

The Technical Innovation Team is looking for a “Technical Innovation Partner“. As TI Partner you will manage a portfolio of technical innovation projects. Whilst the role is not limited to any specific technology, the initial focus will be Onshore and overarching wind related projects.



  • Support the Team Lead Technical Innovation in managing Innovation work in renewables technologies across the Renewables Business
  • Work with team colleagues to develop a business and value focused TI strategy and plan for agreed topic areas, in close cooperation with experts and key stakeholders in the business.
  • Project Portfolio management
    • Participate in creation and assessment of new project ideas against strategic objectives with experts and business colleagues, actively seeking to share best practices and exploit synergies across the whole RWE Group.
    • Communicate proactively and effectively within RWE, actively promoting the profile of TI and manage key RWE stakeholders
    • Participate in the delivery of the TI project plan with regards to time, cost quality, HSSE, the extraction of maximum benefit from the results and to facilitate smooth business implementation.
    • Support in the management of internal and external project managers and other resources and ensure reporting and provide support for project managers, where appropriate.
  • Participation in negotiation and management of contracts. Work closely with procurement and legal to structure contracts to ensure best value and learning for RWE.
  • Support sustainability topics within Technical Innovation as required and support related RWER and RWE group activities.
  • Participate in the management and promotion of IP and knowhow development and protection.
  • Promote a positive culture of HSSE awareness and continuous improvement and learning



  • Successfully completed university degree in engineering, economics or natural sciences or comparable ideally with energy technology experience.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and technical skills are essential.
  • Understanding of applied project management principles, processes and techniques is required.
  • Experience of building and motivating strong goal-focussed networks or project teams to deliver change.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills at senior levels with an ability to flex style depending on cultural differences.
  • Commercial judgement that is results oriented, open-minded and able to spot possibilities in uncertain and complex environments.
  • Self-directing, working independently and able to identify key priorities in new challenges and plan and prioritise work accordingly.
  • Operational and/or technical experience in wind is desirable, as is experience in innovation.
