Position Overview
We are looking for a Network Expert to join the Software and Controls Team for Global Storage Engineering. In this role you will design, implement and maintain our battery power plant networks according to security and reliability standards. Your designs will enable the correct operation of the battery power plant Control Platform. You will work with other members of the team to accomplish the most suitable designs and solutions for our needs. Together with other security and operations teams in RWE, you will work in the interconnection of the power plants with the Operation Networks, conceptualizing and implementing a safe access to the assets.
Your tasks:
- Design the IT/OT network for battery power plants, following security standards and aiming for high-availability and maintainability
- Select and configure devices (switches, firewalls, servers) to meet the network design
- Administration of network components, such as FortiGate, Palo Alto and Watchguard Firewalls, routers, switches , industrial PCs, virtualization hypervisor ESXi, Proxmox and HA.
- Implementation of IT/OT security requirements according to current standards
- Commission networks in battery power plants, making sure that it supports the philosophy of the Control Platform
- Providing expert root cause analysis for network issues and support troubleshooting.
- Generate design documentation, commissioning reports and maintenance protocols
- Support the standardization and implementation of processes
- Spot inefficiencies and support the automation of repetitive tasks
- Support Team Lead in the improvement and definition of workflows within the Team.
Your profile:
- Several years (5+ years) of relevant experience as network expert
- Successfully completed studies in the field of network administration/IT security/computer science/electrical engineering/automation technology
- Experience with IT security requirements according to ISO/IEC 27001,2,3, BDEW whitepaper etc.
- Confident handling of IT security (keys, certificates, VPN, IPsec, https, ...)
- Good understanding of IT/OT networks for electrical power plants and SLD
- Experience with different concepts, industrial topologies and protocols for network redundancy
- Experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, Remote Desktop
- Familiarity with different standards like NIST, IEC 62443
- Practical experience with network monitoring and logging tools like PRTG, Zabbix
- Proven experience with Linux Debian and Ubuntu
- Experience with network segmentation horizontally and vertically
- Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic and a self-driven
- Good communication skills to participate in a project with multiple stakeholders
- Familiarity with Agile methodology, task management and software tools for collaboration and improving work efficiency
- Willingness for occasional business trips for on-site commissioning
- The following are a big plus but not a requirement:
- Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite)
- Familiarity with industrial network and cabinet design
- Nice to have ISMS, ISO27001 Certificate
- Experience with software development
- Experience with Business process mapping
