The UK Technical Training Academy is looking for proactive individuals to support in the provision of high calibre Maintenance based training for the Generation UK portfolio (Mechanical or Electrical / Control & Instrumentation). The role is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and delivery of technical training skills. We are looking for motivated individuals to support future training needs, ensuring that current and new employees are provided with the skills, knowledge and competencies required for their roles. The Technical Training Specialist role will also be hands-on in aligning RWE Generation training with other areas of RWE.
About the role
- Management and delivery of power generation maintenance based technical training and related subject areas including management of the workshop training facility (Mechanical / Electrical / Control & Instrumentation).
- Ongoing review and updating of existing training materials to ensure “fit for purpose” training that meets the evolving business needs of Generation UK.
- Lead the development of new products and services where appropriate, to ensure best practice and industry standard technical training principles are met.
- Manage, support and deliver specific technical training and Generation UK projects, and through involvement in relevant network groups support technical training development.
- Alignment of training processes with other countries within RWE Generation.
- Working closely with Training Coordination in the implementation of the RWE Generation UK training plan.
- Work with various areas of RWE (such as Renewables) to support and align technical training processes.
Job requirements and experience
- Qualified to at least HNC level in an engineering discipline.
- Technical knowledge and power station experience equivalent to Engineer level.
- Ability to deliver complex technical training subjects to individuals with varying levels of experience, including participants on our entry programmes (Technician & Graduate).
- Ability to make quality decisions and judgements within area of responsibility and organise work effectively to meet time, quality and cost requirements.
- Knowledge of technical training principles, processes and policies, with the ability to optimise and implement these policies into deliverable outcomes.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with tact and discretion, both in writing and verbally with colleagues at all levels within RWE and with a wide range of external stakeholders.
