O&M Technician (Electrical)

About the role

 

As a member of the Stations Operations and Maintenance Team, you will contribute towards delivering on the day to day maintenance and operational requirements to maximize the safe, reliable and commercial performance of the power station. Utilising your background knowledge and experience in the field of Electrical Engineering, specifically in modern heavy industry, your duties and responsibilities will include routine PPM, fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery. The discipline Engineering team will provide direction and support as appropriate. You are required to effectively collaborate with Engineering & Outage teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning. This post offers the opportunity to work flexibly in a site team environment and experience a wide range of maintenance and operations responsibilities to the delivery of the continuous improvement agenda and to enhance the flexibility and potential of the Station within the HC&G UK portfolio. You will be expected to perform both maintenance and operational duties as required. This may require the need to work as part of a rotational or stagger shift pattern as the business needs change.

 

Job requirements and experience

 

  • You should have an appropriate amount of experience in a technical engineering discipline.
  • You need to be able to plan and manage your own work and the work of a small team, to the highest standards of safety and attention to detail. You have experience of working with SAP to create safe systems of work.
  • Experience in a process or engineering environment, involving power generation, with an intensive focus on safety.
  • The role involves acting as a Contract Engineer, so you need to be able to develop productive working relationships with our contract partners and secure optimal commercial outcomes.
  • You also need to be able to manage costs, ensuring maintenance expenditure is within approved budgets and plans, and manage resources effectively.
  • As the business is a 24-hour-a-day operation, you should be comfortable working outside core hours, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the business. A full and current driving license is essential.
