The Development Associate supports the Director of Business Development and VP, Utility-Scale Development in Central Region to manage the renewable project development business. The team’s primary function is to originate and develop large-scale onshore wind, solar PV, and energy storage projects in states across the Midwest. Responsibilities for the associate role will include assisting the Team’s leadership to manage the development project pipeline, prepare approval requests, streamline work processes, manage budget, and manage administrative tasks
Role Responsibilities:
- Support regional portfolio management by tracking regional Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
- Maintain and manage regional pipeline data in Salesforce and other internal systems, conducting necessary quality checks and coordinating with developers to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with preparing internal approval documentation for regional-level project approvals and decision points
- Support budget tracking and review across regional development projects, ensuring accurate reporting of the regional pipeline
- Support initiatives to improve team workflows, increase operational efficiency, and adapt to evolving business needs
- Manage invoice and approval processes in SAP, including the creation of purchase orders and purchase requests
- Manage weekly team meeting agendas, including coordinating with relevant SMEs on meeting content
- Facilitate onboarding for new team members and vendors by providing process guidance and system access
- Organize team events such as on-site/off-site meetings, trainings, quarterly reviews, and other ad hoc gatherings
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- BA or BS College degree in relevant fields (engineering, business, accounting, law, project management, environmental services, regulatory affairs, communications, and other)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, program coordination, legal, or other relevant fields
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholder groups
- Eagerness to learn, with adaptability and a team-first approach
- Self-driven and adaptable, with a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with SAP or Salesforce is a plus
- Demonstrated interest in renewable energy development
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois $73,000 -$100,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new-hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
