US Credit Team Lead

Your responsibilities

• Responsible for further build-out of the team (beyond 2 credit analysts) with the longer-term goal of establishing a de-centralized credit team
• Governance and Oversight: responsible for assessing and approving counterparty credit exposures (including payment, performance, and supplier risks) as well as governance and adherence to RWE Groups’ credit policies and procedures
• Various but related  technologies covered: Onshore and Offshore wind, PV, battery storage, distributed generation and hydrogen as well as  US trading business for optimization
• Portfolio Management: Responsible for a portfolio of counterparties based in the Americas (US, Canada, and LATAM) across a broad spectrum of industries , not just energy companies.
• Proactively manage credit risks by taking into account liquidity topics as well.
• Ensuring appropriate negotiating  of credit terms for the business being undertaken, with a sound working knowledge of different contracts e.g. ISDA , PPA’s, REC’s,
• Prepare short, succinct credit analysis and reports including Risk/Reward decisions ensuring the quality of the teams report writing is if a high standard

Your profile

• Experience: Min 5 years or more in a leading counterparty credit risk management role within the energy, utilities or banking sectors,  including a good working knowledge of the US energy market.
• Ability to provide analysis for corporate and financial institutions from a credit risk, balance,sheet, and cash flow perspective.
• Strong credit, negotiating, and documentation skills
• University degree or equivalent in business administration, finance, or economics.
• Excellent self-motivation, independent and reliable working approach
• High level of social competence and ability to handle conflicts
• Business fluent English language skills are a must. German language an advantage
