Senior Manager - Controlling (FP&A)

At RWE Renewables Americas, the Controlling Americas team is responsible for financial performance controlling, planning & reporting, portfolio analyses and target setting for the Onshore Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage businesses.  Working as a strategic partner and trusted advisor with the business, Controlling evaluates improvement measures, actively gives recommendations / appropriate challenge, and business decision support.  

As a Senior Manager in the Controlling Americas team, primary responsibilities include:

  • Financial planning & analysis: Support timely, complete, accurate, high-quality reporting / planning / forecasting with both local business stakeholders and Central Team Controlling colleagues in Germany.
  • Operations controlling: Support overall controlling tasks for the Operations part of the business (e.g. monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, mid-term planning, business cases, ad-hoc analyses, special topics, savings initiatives, monthly performance dialogues).
  • Project management: Define initiatives and lead cross-functional projects within the finance area and across the business groups.
  • Business support: Serve as strategic partner to all business areas by supporting / challenging / measuring critical initiatives within the business groups; provide timely and insightful analysis that supports informed decision-making.
  • Management communication: Prepare materials for and lead meetings with Senior Management and the Board.
  • Continuous process improvement: Proactive pursuit of best practices, processes, standardization and tools that drive gains in efficiency, automation, and quality. 
  • Integration and change management: Support top priority integration activities following recent merger.
  • Value enhancement: Support cost savings initiatives, EBITDA enhancement ideas and measurement, and efforts to maximize project value.
  • People and communication: Support growth and development of the team and how we work together locally and globally.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Work experience: 10+ years of professional experience in Controlling, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial or Management Consulting, or other Finance-related fields; Renewable energy experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Education: BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics/Business (required); Advanced degree is a plus, but not required
  • Location:  Chicago, IL
  • Ability to travel: <15%
  • Language: English (fluent), German is a plus
  • Systems and tools: Excel (moderate to advanced), PowerPoint, Word, SAP, Qlikview, Tableau, Power BI, other system/tools experience is a plus
  • Desired traits:
