The Senior Director, Corporate Finance at RWE Clean Energy will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and management of RWE’s operating companies in the Americas, driving financial performance and supporting long-term growth objectives. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced finance professional who can lead and oversee financial activities, including cash forecasting/liquidity optimization, bank account management, and guarantee management. The Senior Director, Corporate Finance will work closely with the local businesses and RWE’s German based parent company to develop and implement strategies that drive financial performance and support the company's long-term growth objectives.
Role Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor five Corporate Finance team professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance and support to team members to enhance their professional development
- Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies to support the growth and development of the Americas Business and continued modernization of the Corporate Finance function
- Financial Oversight: Ensure oversight of the Americas' financial activities to safeguard RWE AG's central credit lines and AG Rating. Manage transaction processes for various businesses and margining needs
- Internal Financing: Oversee the internal financing of business projects, ensuring sufficient liquidity and efficient financial operations
- Credit Facilities: Oversee the placement of new, and extension of existing credit facilities in coordination with RWE AG Treasury and Legal. Ensure that credit facilities are in place and sufficient to cover forecasted needs
- Guarantee Issuance and Structuring: Collaborate closely with the business and credit risk management to issue, structure and track guarantees
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including, local business, RWE AG Finance, and financial institutions. Communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives effectively
- Negotiation Expertise: Demonstrate capacity to negotiate effectively
- Bank Account Management: Oversee the entire bank account process across the various banking relationships, from opening to closing accounts. Monitor transactions and balances, ensuring compliance with regulations and business needs
- Financial Policies and Controls: Establish and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of the company. Implement performance metrics and reporting systems to track progress against financial goals
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required. An MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is highly preferred
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy, is highly desirable
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, analysis, and reporting. Knowledge of financial management software and tools
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies that support business growth and objectives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team to achieve high performance
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, external partners and international stakeholders
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
- Integrity: High ethical standards and integrity in all financial and business practices
- Mobility: Flexibility for frequent travel within the US and internationally
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $195,000 - $250,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
