About the role

As Manager Natural Gas Supply Portfolio, you will shape and execute the natural gas supply strategy for a planned fleet of gas-fired power generation assets across North America. You will sit at the intersection of markets, assets and analytics - making sure our plants have reliable, cost-effective and flexible fuel supply, while advancing RWESTA’s broader commercial ambitions.

In this high-visibility position, you will lead the development of fuel strategies, negotiate key commercial agreements and build the market intelligence capabilities that underpin decision making. You will work closely with other functions, such as commercial analysis and strategy to evaluate new projects and acquisitions, integrate assets into the portfolio and continuously optimize our natural gas supply position.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive natural gas supply strategy aligned with RWESTA’s growing generation portfolio
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, marketers, pipeline companies and storage operators, representing RWESTA in commercial discussions, business reviews and long-term planning
  • Lead commercial negotiations for gas supply, firm and interruptible transportation, storage, balancing services and precedent agreements for new capacity and power plant interconnections
  • Support M&A due diligence by assessing fuel supply flexibility, transportation contracts, connectivity, operational risks and integration plans for acquired assets
  • Design and implement a market analytics and business intelligence platform integrating pipeline flows, pricing indices, capacity postings, LNG flows, weather and fundamentals to support sourcing and dispatch decisions
  • Establish and oversee processes for forecasting plant fuel needs and coordinating scheduling with internal scheduling teams, including monitoring maintenance, tariffs and operational constraints
  • Partner with Development and other stakeholders across RWE to inform plant siting and project development, and to support budgeting, forecasting, hedging and broader risk management

Job requirements and experience

  • 7–12+ years’ experience in natural gas supply, trading, origination, pipeline commercial operations or fuel management for power assets
  • Deep understanding of U.S. natural gas markets, regional basis dynamics and pipeline operations, including interpretation of tariffs, capacity postings and market fundamentals
  • Strong track record negotiating gas supply agreements, transportation and storage contracts and/or precedent agreements with midstream and market counterparties
  • Hands-on experience with gas scheduling, balancing and operational logistics, including managing constraints, storage withdrawals and delivery issues
  • Proficiency with market analytics platforms (e.g. Genscape, Enverus, BTU, NGI) and strong data skills using Excel and business intelligence tools
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across RWE Americas, including development, finance and plant operations, building trusted relationships internally and externally across the gas value chain
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance or a related field; comfortable operating both strategically and in the detail to drive decisions and results

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Experience building analytics dashboards or data platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Python-based tools) to support dispatch optimization, budget planning and hedging strategy
  • Background supporting natural gas-fired power generation assets specifically, including experience with energy management agreements and third-party marketers
  • MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification

What we value most is someone who continuously demonstrates courage, aspires create impact and seeks to build trusting, collaborative relationships. So, even if you think you do not yet display all of the skills listed above we would still like to hear from you.
