The Manager, General Ledger supervises a team of 4-8 accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including General Ledger, Financial Statements and Year-end audit preparation. The Manager, General Ledger collaborates closely with various Accounting and Finance teams, assist in ad hoc projects, provides guidance to General Ledger team, continuously work to improve the efficiency of the accounting and reporting processes. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Overview month end close activities, including preparing/reviewing standard and miscellaneous journal entries, account reconciliation, running month end transaction like settlements/depreciation/BS analysis, supervise the GL Team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions as well as developing and maintaining of accounting policies and procedures
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Support for internal and external audit activities, as appropriate. Support special projects, as appropriate, with Financial Reporting, Tax, Structure Finance, Risk and Credit, and Controlling
  • Establish best practices related to the monthly close process and account reconciliation process in order to operate in an efficient and effective manner
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. Hiring, training and supervision of accounting staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Accounting
  • CPA license preferred 
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant work in the energy industry or related field, including at least  2+ years of managing direct reports
  • Familiar with IFRS and US GAAP
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
