Head of Controlling & Planning - Onshore & PV Americas

Role Summary and Objectives:

  • At RWE Renewables Americas, the Controlling Americas team is responsible for financial performance controlling, planning & reporting, portfolio analyses and target setting for the Onshore Wind, Solar and Energy Storage businesses. 
  • Working as a strategic partner and trusted advisor with the business, Controlling evaluates improvement measures, actively gives recommendations / appropriate challenge, and provides business decision support. 
  • As Head of Controlling & Planning, you will lead and manage teams responsible for 1) Corporate & Consolidation Controlling, 2) Investments Controlling and 3) Management Support Function Controlling.
  • Proactive interface and support for RWE Renewables Americas business leaders and Board.
  • Support business target setting and evaluation of steering KPIs.
  • Serve as point of contact for financial and economic questions from colleagues at corporate parent company, RWE AG.

Qualifications:

  • Work experience: At least 12 years of professional experience in Controlling, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial or Management Consulting, or other Finance-related fields; at least some direct prior work experience in Controlling / Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Renewable energy experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Education: BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics/Business (required); Advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
  • Location:  Chicago, IL
  • Ability to travel: <15%
  • Language: English (fluent), German is a plus
  • Systems and tools: Excel (moderate to advanced), PowerPoint, Word, SAP, Tableau, Power BI, other system/tools experience is a plus.
  • Desired traits: Analytical and proactive problem-solver, cross-functional collaboration, continuous process improvement, ability to effectively communicate and interact with Senior Management, experience working in a global organization is a plus, integration and change management experience is a plus, general accounting and IFRS knowledge a plus.
