Director, Partnerships & Transactions

Functional area: Renewables 

The Partnerships and Transactions group at RWE Renewables is responsible for sourcing, structuring and executing cash equity partnerships for the company’s development, in-construction and operational assets in onshore wind, solar, storage and offshore wind in the US and in Canada. In addition, the team also supports the growth of the overall project pipeline through the acquisition of early and mid-stage development projects in onshore wind, solar and storage. 

• Actively lead identification and origination of potential business development opportunities with existing and new partners for wind and solar opportunities
• Execute acquisition and divestment activities for selected RWE Development, Construction or Operating assets
• Hold accountability for project budget and timeline targets
• Direct preparation of market and investor research, manage competitive M&A processes, coordinate offers and due diligence
• Lead negotiation, approval, execution and closing of select M&A and joint venture process, including the negotiation of sale and shareholder agreements

- Develop relationships with external market participants to source new growth opportunities and investor relationships



  • Business or analytical/quantitative degree, with at least 5-7 years of experience in the area of Finance, Economics or Business Administration. MBA, CFA or similar postgraduate degree considered a plus.
  • Experience managing or leading M&A and/or debt transactions, including active negotiation of term sheets and purchase agreements; tax equity experience a plus
  • Understanding of the energy markets, technologies and investor markets. Experience working with financial, utility or IPP investors ideal.
  • Strong financial skills coupled with good conceptual, strategic and analytical thinking skills.
  • Comfort in managing relationships with Senior stakeholders (both internal and external).
  • Excellent command of concise language and visuals as a means of conveying messages for different types of stakeholders.
  • Creative and open-minded individual able to think and calculate through transaction scenarios.
  • Strong personal credibility, excellent project and team-working skills.
  • Affinity and high motivation to work in an  international and changing business environment. Interpersonal skills, acting comfortably in various cultural environments with a sense for diversity and inclusion.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages a plus
