Development Manager

RWE Renewables Americas LLC, Chicago, Vereinigte Staaten (US)  

To start on or To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent

 

Reporting to the VP of Development, Midwest, and located in Chicago the Project Development Manager (PDM) will lead or assist in the full development of wind power projects in the Midwest. Your key activities will include opportunity analysis,  land acquisition, internal and external resource management, project scheduling, budgeting and assisting with commercial offtake opportunities.  A successful candidate will also lead the identification and pursuit of new project opportunities in a fast-paced, high growth environment.

 

Your Future Plans:

 

  • Locate, analyze, secure land and pursue new onshore wind project opportunities or assist in development of existing.
  • Align with resources to receive local, state, regional, and federal permitting of wind projects.
  • Establish and maintain supportive relationships with both internal and external partners, ensuring that project-specific requirements are negotiated and secured.
  • Develop and coordinate strategies for securing project grid interconnection and transmission.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical engineering teams to ensure bankable wind resource studies and wind farm design.
  • Optimize equipment  choices and layouts with procurement and technical teams, identifying value enhancing measures during design iterations.
  • Create and maintain project updates, schedules and progress reports; identify risks and possible solutions for discussion with team members.
  • Monitor, identify, analyze and present opportunities in your assigned market.
  • Ensure project-specific financial assessments capture all corresponding development, permitting and operational cost assumptions to support accurate financial modelling.
  • Communicate effectively within matrixed, cross-cultural teams
  • Address and balance conflicting project priorities and timelines on a continual basis with available resources and teams.

 

Your Powerfull Skills:

 

  • Has a University degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines.
  • Has the ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind energy; including resource studies, environmental studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering.
  • Is competent in the application of standard project-management control tools and techniques including project planning, cost management, risk management, progress measurement, control and reporting of project information.
  • Displays a strong drive to deliver results, persistent in overcoming obstacles and eager to take responsibility for making things happen in a complex development landscape.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in teams and apply integrative skills.
  • Shows flexibility to work both independently and with domestic and international groups.
  • Is flexible to travel as required, supporting the US business plan.
  • Has strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing remote and indirect internal and external workforces, including consultants and contractors is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successful development of US wind projects in various markets a plus.
