The Back Office US department at RWE Supply & Trading Americas (RWESTA) is responsible for numerous financial operations functions in the North American energy markets.  We work closely with Front Office, Risk & Revenue Controlling, Corporate Finance & Treasury, Accounting, and Legal teams to provide comprehensive support throughout the lifecycle of a trade.
Currently we’re looking for a new Team Lead to manage our Contracts West team.  Within the team we cover wholesale and complex contract settlements within the central and western US and Canada, as well as meter data validation and new asset onboarding.  Our US Back Office main site is located in Chicago, with other offices located around the globe.  The RWE headquarters are located in Essen, Germany.  Due to the close collaboration with our other regional & global offices occasional business trips (domestic & international) are possible.

 

The Role

In your new role the key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead an experienced US Contracts team covering the Central & Western ISO Markets (AESO, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, SPP)
  • Work closely with various business and engineering stakeholders to integrate new assets into RWESTA
  • Build efficient processes that are scalable for future growth
  • Analyze all revenue sources for proper revenue recognition of electricity sales contracted via PPAs, merchant energy sales, accounting for imbalance energy settlements
  • Ensure timely & accurate invoicing of internal/external customers across various markets
  • Conduct meter validation and confirm shadow calculations are accurate and within tolerance
  • Take a leadership role on NBAP’s and various projects 
  • Manage auditor requests related to revenue and receivables, ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules
     

Your Powerful Skills

Do you have a keen eye for detail and exceptional organizational skills?  
 
Key requirements include:

  • 7+ years work experience
  • Degree in any business related field (ie; Econ, Finance, Accounting, etc.) Engineering, Environmental studies or similar work experience
  • Exceptional leadership skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Extremely well organized and able to work tight timeframes under pressure
  • Passion for developing talent to help those reporting to you advance in their careers  
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
     

 

Advantageous, not a must

  • Experience or familiarity with Back Office operations
  • Basic knowledge of IT software such as PCI, ENDUR, and SAP
  • Understanding of energy settlements and the deal lifecycle
  • Relevant work experience in the energy business
