Your future plans
As part of Commercial Analysis Americas, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive revenue analyses to support key investment and commercial decisions related to solar, wind, battery, and flexible generation projects. Your work will play a crucial role in advancing the strategic growth objectives of RWE Americas organizations.
This position offers an outstanding opportunity to collaborate with professionals experienced in advanced power market and energy project modeling from various disciplines, including engineering, consulting, academia, and independent power production. Your analytical expertise will contribute valuable insights supporting colleagues across multiple RWE teams, such as project development, power marketing, valuation, mergers and acquisitions, transmission, engineering, and additional functions.
This position also allows you to collaborate with teams across other RWE groups in Europe and Asia-Pacific, offering insight into the global speed and scope of the energy transition.
Responsibilities:
- Make an impact on major financial decisions (investment, offtake, auction, M&A, etc.) in RWE’s U.S. operations with the goal of maximizing commercial value for each project and the portfolio at large.
- Guide the business to optimally balance commercial opportunities and risks.
- Provide short/medium/long-term market insights and price forecasts for various U.S. power markets (with focus in PJM, NYISO, MISO) and products (power, capacity, ancillary services, renewable energy certificates, natural gas, etc.), based on a clear understanding of market fundamentals, regulatory trends, renewable energy penetration, storage / demand response growth, etc.
- Formulate an optimal commercial strategy for RWE projects by taking into account project technology, market conditions, commodity price projections, LCOE trends, competitor analysis, and other relevant factors. Additionally, assist with participation and strategic planning for auctions and Requests for Proposals (RfPs).
- Develop key beliefs for RWE core markets and technologies, and work with internal and external price forecast teams to produce consistent and coherent outlooks.
- Offer essential insights and inputs to support financial investment decisions, company strategy, and RWE pipeline prioritization. Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders across financial and technical roles.
Your powerful skills
- Solid understanding of US power markets and experience analyzing the economics of renewable energy sources, energy storage, and flexible generation. Experience in the offtake commercialization is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills: ability to deduce the key messages from complex datasets, attention to detail without losing the big picture. Ability to do quantitative analysis and modeling (e.g. spreadsheets, Python, VBA, SQL).
- Excellent communication abilities: capable of explaining complex results to various stakeholders such as senior management, and skilled at collaborating within a diverse, international team.
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in renewable energy, power systems, energy consulting, or a related field is required; relevant academic experience in the energy sector is a plus.
Education requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in engineering, energy economics, or finance is a plus.
