Your role


We are looking for a Senior Manager Auction Analysis (US) who will be part of our Global Modelling & Methods team in the RWE Renewables Commercial Analysis Department. The Modelling and Methods team manages commercial projects with a global reach, relying on the backbone of quantitative modelling activities of the Global Modelling & Methods team.


The role will involve leading and supporting projects which contribute to the development of a holistic commercially sound global portfolio as well as strategic commercial assessment of individual renewables projects. The broad scope would include developing and maintaining portfolio monetisation strategy for the Americas, auction analysis for offshore wind auctions, both leases and support, for the Americas and Europe, as well as supporting investment decisions for large-scale offshore wind projects. The role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in the power market industry as well as competency in stakeholder management. Additionally, the role requires the ability to transform complex analyses into easily understandable recommendations and delivering them to senior executive stakeholders. You will be part of a highly dynamic, international and geographically diverse team.

Your future plans


  • Drive commercially oriented strategy in the offshore wind business in the Americas and Europe. Working with senior stakeholders to deliver optimal auction strategy, by leading on competitor analysis, analysis of how auction design nuances can affect bidding behaviour, conducting real option analysis and game theory, and potentially preparing Auction “war games” for the board
  • Develop the Global Auction Strategy Framework to deliver bid strategy support for all tech and markets ensuring overarching global portfolio optimization
  • Ensure methodological consistency in application of auction analytical and strategic support globally
  • Manage / support projects to inform RWE’s global growth activities with sophisticated Commercial Analysis models and methods excellence, e.g., with regards to portfolio steering, optimal monetisation or global tender bidding strategy
  • Provide commercial quantitative and conceptual support for final investment decisions (FIDs) and M&A transactions for strategically key projects, e.g., revenues modelling, bidding strategies or competition analysis
  • Develop a broad understanding of global power market fundamentals and develop commercial recommendations as inputs for central Strategy Review process

Your profile 


  • Degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Energy Systems or similar disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience in the area of electricity markets or consulting in the electricity markets industry or in an industry heavily involved in public auction processes e.g. telecoms
  • Solid understanding of power market fundamentals and commodity market risks
  • Excellent project management & presentation skills, excellent understanding of power markets
  • Aptitude for analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking as well as creative and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong people skills and the ability to engage all levels of the organization
  • Excellent listening, verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Expert user of Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of VBA is a plus
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages are a plus



  • Experience in valuation of commercial revenue streams for renewables technologies
  • Experience with large scale auctions, e.g., in the offshore wind industry
  • Knowledge of financial engineering, option valuation, Monte Carlo and similar techniques
  • Good programming skills in financial evaluation in Python preferably, or alternatively Julia, Go, Java, C etc.
