About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide expert electrical engineering support for our onshore renewable energy business in Australia. Your focus will be on Electrical Balance of Plant (E-BoP) design and farm/plant layout across all project phases—development, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

 

Job Requirements & Experience

Design & Engineering

  • Lead electrical engineering activities throughout project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review EBoP concepts and execution designs, ensuring compliance with Australian and international standards.
  • Develop employer requirements such as technical specifications, drawings, and reports for wind, solar, and battery projects.

Project Delivery & Compliance

  • Support regulatory approvals, including environmental and building permits.
  • Manage RFPs for engineering services, evaluate proposals, and recommend suppliers.
  • Oversee tendering, negotiation, and procurement for electrical works.
  • Coordinate grid connection processes and maintain technical documentation.

Construction & Quality Assurance

  • Provide technical oversight during construction, including site visits and validation of works.
  • Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests for assets and components.
  • Collect and maintain as-built documentation.

Stakeholder & Risk Management

  • Review contractor designs for consistency with project requirements.
  • Support technical due diligence for acquisitions and identify risks.
  • Benchmark and prequalify engineering consultants and contractors.

Continuous Improvement

  • Incorporate lessons learned from operating assets to improve specifications and designs.
  • Collaborate with global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice within RWE Renewables.

 

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in electrical design and construction of onshore wind farms (MV/HV systems).
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards and NEM grid connection processes.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory).
  • Experience with tenders, QA/QC, and technical contract management.
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to work in international and virtual teams; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to RWE’s values.
