About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide expert electrical engineering support for our onshore renewable energy business in Australia. Your focus will be on Electrical Balance of Plant (E-BoP) design and farm/plant layout across all project phases—development, construction, operation, and decommissioning.
Job Requirements & Experience
Design & Engineering
- Lead electrical engineering activities throughout project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review EBoP concepts and execution designs, ensuring compliance with Australian and international standards.
- Develop employer requirements such as technical specifications, drawings, and reports for wind, solar, and battery projects.
Project Delivery & Compliance
- Support regulatory approvals, including environmental and building permits.
- Manage RFPs for engineering services, evaluate proposals, and recommend suppliers.
- Oversee tendering, negotiation, and procurement for electrical works.
- Coordinate grid connection processes and maintain technical documentation.
Construction & Quality Assurance
- Provide technical oversight during construction, including site visits and validation of works.
- Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests for assets and components.
- Collect and maintain as-built documentation.
Stakeholder & Risk Management
- Review contractor designs for consistency with project requirements.
- Support technical due diligence for acquisitions and identify risks.
- Benchmark and prequalify engineering consultants and contractors.
Continuous Improvement
- Incorporate lessons learned from operating assets to improve specifications and designs.
- Collaborate with global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice within RWE Renewables.
Your Profile
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in electrical design and construction of onshore wind farms (MV/HV systems).
- Familiarity with Australian Standards and NEM grid connection processes.
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory).
- Experience with tenders, QA/QC, and technical contract management.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to work in international and virtual teams; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
