RWE Offshore Wind US Offshore Development Team is looking for a Marine Affairs Liaison to join our dynamic Marine Affairs team and support the development of fixed bottom and floating offshore wind project opportunities in the USA

 

Role:

  • Support the development of large and complex US offshore wind projects through supporting role on applicable Marine Affairs topics
  • Support the Marine Affairs and Fisheries team’s engagement and coordination with the maritime industry and marine stakeholders, including, but not limited to: commercial shipping, owner/operators of subsea infrastructure, harbor safety committees, ports and harbors operators, pilots associations, maritime trade associations, fisheries, the US Coast Guard, the US Department of Defense, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement
  • Work in close coordination with RWE’s vessel assurance department and U.S. Marine Specialist to liaise between projects and the relevant maritime and fishing industries to support successful development
  • Support development of offshore wind projects' marine affairs strategies and maritime stakeholder engagement plans, including schedule and budget preparation; subsequently support projects' marine affairs efforts against established baselines
  • Advise and support internal teams on marine affairs-related topics and project requirements, including coordination across workstreams (e.g. technical, commercial) and "early and often" communication with project management regarding projects' marine affairs risks, opportunities, and progress against overall timelines
  • Support and manage external consultancies engaged in support of projects' marine affairs-related activities
  • Flexibility to work across multiple projects including regular travel to one or more project locations – initial focus of this position is the East Coast of the US
  • Promote RWE Offshore Wind Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and procedures; ensure that both local and global best practices and learnings are implemented across projects
  • Support RWE on external marine affairs working groups within the industry and collaborate with other developers on marine affairs issues
  • Full-time, Hybrid or remote eligible.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marine Engineering, Marine Transportation, Maritime Business and/or Policy, Marine Science, Safety and Environmental Protection, Marine Biology or a related field; US Coast Guard, Navy, Merchant Marine and/or similar experience preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience engaged in US-specific marine affairs and maritime stakeholder topics
  • Project management experience highly preferred
  • Results-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset, ability to analyze and summarize complex marine affairs topics and aggregate decision-relevant information to convey messages clearly and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people of different backgrounds and cultures; must be a team player with a proven ability to communicate and collaborate externally and internally across functions and at all levels of an organization
  • Significant experience with marine affairs topics, specifically US maritime policies (e.g. Jones Act), regulations and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated experience with external engagement and managing external consultants and/or internal teams
