Role: Lead Foundations Engineer
Location: US Hybrid with office in Boston
Your key tasks and responsibilities:
As a Lead Foundations Engineer your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Thrive as part of a multi-disciplinary team of technical specialists supporting all stages of the offshore wind farms within the RWE Renewables’ portfolio
- Lead the design of new and novel foundation structures for offshore wind turbines, during the origination and development phases of an offshore wind farm project
- Manage the structural engineering activities and third party design contract during the pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design stages of an offshore wind project, and then continue supporting the project on into fabrication and construction
- Support Offshore Operations in driving the implementation of our fleet-wide asset integrity strategy for Offshore foundations
- Deliver specialist engineering knowledge to review and assess the performance of our existing wind turbine foundation structures
- Mentor and develop the junior and associate colleagues within the team and across the wider business;
- Contribute to design and development of our in-house foundation design modelling tools
- Ensure that all lessons learned from our operating fleet are incorporated into future projects
- Provide technical support to Procurement, Quality and HSSE departments
- Represent RWE as a technical expert on ground breaking Joint Industry and Research Projects
- Work closely across all interfaces with; internal stakeholders, external design houses, certification authorities, and fabrication contractors to produce cost effective and value-added solutions
Essential skill requirements:
- Engineering degree from an accredited university in civil, structural or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, Master / PhD degree preferred
- Extensive post-graduation experience in offshore structural engineering – preferably with both: monopiles and jacket fixed foundations, and/or floating foundation concepts
- Familiar with industry codes and standards applicable to offshore wind projects
- Project management experience in the offshore industry from either design, construction, or operations
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Good communicator and excellent team player
- Fluent spoken and written English
- The drive and motivation to meet time, cost and quality targets
Desirable skills:
- Licensed Professional Engineer
