The Team

RWE Renewables Offshore is seeking a Financial Projects & Investments Manager to join the Projects & Investments North America team (P&I NA) for our offshore wind developments. The role is responsible for coordination and steering of financial and finance-related workstreams within a project from lease auction through offtake bid to final investment decision to commissioning.

As part of an international department spanning the globe, the P&I NA team – and specifically this position – offers this opportunity to a self-motivated and highly responsible individual to be part of a growing team and business. Intellectual flexibility and cultural sensitivity are critical for success due to the required collaboration and interaction with a multitude of departments and people from different backgrounds.

  • Coordinating the wider financial workstreams within a project and evaluating project problems from the financial lenses of RWE (shareholder) and (as applicable) joint venture structure
  • Day-to-day oversight of the valuation workstream and assisting with management within the project (controlling/FP&A, commercial, risk management, legal, procurement, accounting, tax)
    • Responsibility for the business case process (planning & coordination of financial business case updates, required level of detail of the business case)
    • Ability to derive and challenge credible financial assumptions by benchmarking against other internal and external projects
    • Ownership of the budgeting process and project cost controls (incl. cash calls to investors) and respective reporting processes
    • Ensuring appropriate governance (delegation of authority, other authorization) principles are followed and deployed by all workstreams
  • Represents project from a finance perspective at steering committees and board meetings
    • Aligning valuation approach and results with executive management and ensuring level of effort is fit for purpose
    • Preparation of project approval papers, including submissions and review with executive management
  • Identify opportunities to optimize project returns, ensure bankability, add value to the RWE portfolio, as well as deliver them forwards as necessary, presenting results and the recommendation for approval
  • Ensure deployment of (and identification of improvements opportunities on) best practices within the project

 

 

Your profile

  • At least 4-6 years’ minimum experience with a broad finance background and experience (especially on valuation topics) either in
    1. managing large scale projects, especially in renewables, power plant or hydrogen projects or
    2. banking/working with (particularly renewables) projects on major financial endeavors (tax equity raises, debt raises, M&A, etc.)
  • University degree in finance, engineering, or economics or similar. MBA preferred
  • Strength in implementing a structured working approach/discipline in a highly engaged, project environment
  • Comprehensive analytical and communicational skills, including presentation of key points of complex topics
  • Experience in leading and motivating teams and a “community” mentality and positive personality
  • Knowledge of how to work in and with international groups and cultural differences
  • Able to work both individually and but collaboratively within both the broader P&I NA team and the associated projects
  • Holds a “work hard, play hard” mentality in motivating project teams to accomplish key tasks and hit milestones on time and at budget
  • Availability to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally) as necessary (estimated at 1-2 weeks/month, though it varies substantially based on project phase and location)
