The Vice President Project Procurement leads the project EPC and BoP spend for RWE Clean Energy. Reporting to the SVP of Procurement, she/he will provide leadership and guidance to the team, interface with internal and external stakeholders and will contribute to RWE Clean Energy growth targets. 

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and coach the Project Procurement team
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and enhancing Procurement Category and Contract Strategies
  • Serve as the key interface between internal stakeholders (Development, Engineering, Project Management, Project Execution, etc)
  • Oversee implementation of strategy for tendering, evaluating and contracting EPC and BoP activities to support the new build projects.  Drive value creating procurement solutions
  • Work closely with the Development, Engineering and Construction teams to analyze various procurement options for projects and assure Supply Chain activities are performed consistent with established schedules and budgets
  • Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with major equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and major contractors providing services to the renewable energy industry
  • Drive Supplier Relationship Management and Evaluation. Implement contractor performance and risk measures
  • Monitor regulatory environment in to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities
  • Ensure that policies, compliance rules and processes are properly implemented and observed
  • Provide market analysis and set the basis for a sustainable supply chain during project execution
  • Track performance using metrics that enable acceleration of growth with a major focus on process efficiency, followed by a focus on reducing spend and total cost of ownership

 

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Relevant college degree with preference for Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction or Business Management
  • Academic qualification and 18 years of relevant and similar working experience with significant people management experience building and coaching expert teams
  • Experience in negotiating and contracting EPC and BoP contracts
  • Expertise with spend category methodologies, including strategy formation, category management processes, stakeholder alignment, and negotiations
  • Ability to work across all segments of the Procurement value chain - sourcing, contract management, procure-to-pay, eSourcing, supplier risk management and vendor management
  • Experience in utility scale renewable energy project procurement
  • Proven ability to meet performance and organizational goals and foster growth strategies, including managing department and project engineering costs budgets
  • Significant people management experience
  • Experience in applying efficient procurement processes, structures and analytical tools
  • Experience of liaising with senior management and C-suite
  • Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
  • Experience in managing complex regulatory environment
  • Ability to challenge “conventional” thinking, considers others’ views and convinces with facts considering a proactive approach to overcome resistance
  • Strong eye for detail and ensuring accuracy in exchange of information and contracts
  • Team player with strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
  • Experience and willingness to work independently in a fast-changing environment and in an international team
  • Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and SAP.  Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly
  • Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally – expected travel is 20-30%
  • Business fluent proficiency in English.  Spanish and German language skills are a benefit but not essential
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $208,000 - $281,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
