The Vice President of Project Controls will lead enterprise-level reporting including cost control, scheduling, and risk management across a portfolio of utility scakew Wind, Solar, and BESS projects. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in implementing project governance, performance managememt, and leadership across a portfolio of large scale capital projects.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience developing and implememting innovative approaches to closely monitor and accuraretly forecast outcomes across portfolio of capital projects, with the demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate emerging project risk.
This role will lead a team of experienced project controls personel and be responsible for selecting and implementing a digital project management solution across the execution enterprise.
Role Responsibilities:
The Vice President of Project Controls shall develop and implement rigorous project controls across the portfolio of capital project areas (e.g., cost vs. budget, estimating, scheduling, risk management, etc.) and measure the overall performance of RWE’s wind, solar, and storage construction projects. Work duties and responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
- Develop, implement, and lead project controls strategy across full project portfolio
- Ensure the use of standardized scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) while monitoring progress and performance across portfolio
- Manage project budgets and cost forecasts, and proactively identify and address potential cost overruns
- Establish risk management framework for project delivery and deploy to identify and mitigate schedule and cost impacts
- Ensure timely and accurate project reporting including development and implementation of dashboards and KPIs
- Promote digital transformation in project controls and ensure integration between scheduling, cost, and reporting tools
- Build and mentor a high-performing project controls team and drive continuous improvement
- Identify trends, lessons learned, and best practices for continuous improvementManage the Purchase Requisition process in SAP for all project-related orders
- Maintain the project CapEx files, portfolio dashboards, project management software data, etc. with accurate data, consistent formulas, formatting, and tracking requirements
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, project management, or similar field
- MBA is a plus but not a requirement
- PMP certification a plus but not a requirement
- Minimum 15 years' experience in planning, scheduling, estimating, resource management, or cost controls applicable to engineering and/or construction of power generation facilities, transmission, or electrical substations
- Minimum 10 years' experience with detailed management of budgets, with the ability to forecast spend, provide accruals, understand retainage, analyze performance on current spend vs. budget
- Minimum 5 years' experience in senior managemenr level position leading project controls functions
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Teams
- Intermediate level Excel experience is required, including pivot tables, advanced financial formulas, troubleshooting, IndexMatch, graphs, etc.)
- Primavera P6, Procore, Salesforce or other CRM and project management tool experience
- Advanced understanding of running analytics for KPIs to drive decision-making on cost controls, approvals of POs, and negotiations
- Strong ability to discern high-level topics of importance from detailed data and report in a clear, concise manner to senior leadership
- SAP knowledge to create PRs and run basic queries such as vendor lists, WBS implementation, spend-to-date, etc.
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate on multiple tasks and deliverables among multiple departments
- Ability to multi-task while leading a team of projects controls industry professionals
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, execute, and communicate root causes, variance drivers, risks, and solutions to resolve issues
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and has strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations (<25%)
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $200,000 - $260,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
