The VP of Portfolio Management is responsible for maximizing the value, readiness, and execution success of RWE’s project portfolio by leading the processes that advance projects from development through pre-construction and toward Final Investment Decision (FID). This role oversees portfolio prioritization, resource planning, strategic equipment allocation, and cross-functional alignment to ensure the timely delivery of shovel-ready, value-accretive projects. The position also supports continuous improvement in project delivery processes, develops frameworks for evaluating and communicating project value, and champions the adoption of AI and digital transformation initiatives to improve organizational efficiency, enhance project outcomes, and ensure portfolio performance.

 

Role Responsibilities: 

Managing the process to successfully create shovel-ready assets.

  • Manage project intake, prioritization of projects, and capacity planning
  • Develop a detailed understanding across elements of priority projects (i.e., procurement status, EPC, Development milestones, and commercial conversations) and enable cross-functional understanding of project blockers
  • Implement approach to enhance and communicate project value (e.g., NPV, IRR) early in lifecycle
  • Maintain prioritized project list for both Pre-Construction and EPC procurement

Continuously improve the process to successfully FID accretive projects

  • Implement process improvements aligning functions and to ensure projects are ready for FID in a timely manner
  • Deploy strategy ensuring equipment allocation optimizes for total lifecycle value
  • Ensure preliminary projects have cost estimates and schedules in place, along with strategic partners identified
  • Support implementation of approach to establish and modify target pricing

Allocation of strategic equipment to projects

  • Allocate critical equipment (e.g., MPTs, Modules, etc.) to projects across the portfolio
  • Optimize allocation of ‘in-stock’ equipment when considering equipment allocations
  • Verify BTA projects and Switchyards projects meet or exceed required specifications

Enable organization to operate more efficiently through use of AI

  • Support broader organization efforts on how AI can enable more efficient project FIDs and CODs
  • Sponsor AI/digital transformation efforts in close coordination with internal functions

 

Job Requirements & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, project management, or similar field preferred
  • MBA a plus but not a requirement
  • PMP certification a plus but not a requirement
  • Minimum 15 years experience of business experience including quantitative assessments
  • Minimum 10 years experience including detailed quantitative management of complex business function
  • Minimum 5 years experience in senior management level position leading a quantitative business function
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Teams.  Intermediate level Excel experience is required, including pivot tables, advanced financial formulas, troubleshooting, Index Match, graphs, etc.).
  • Salesforce or other CRM and project management tool experience.
  • Advanced understanding of running analytics for KPIs to drive decision-making on cost controls, approvals of POs, and negotiations.
  • Strong ability to discern high-level topics of importance from detailed data and report in a clear, concise manner to senior leadership.
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate on multiple tasks and deliverables among multiple departments.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills including ability to identify, troubleshoot, execute, and communicate root causes, variance drivers, risks, and solutions to resolve issues.
  • Motivated self-starter and goal-oriented
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York  is $250,000- $260,000 max . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.

 

Location: Please note that these roles are currently expected to be in-office hybrid positions based in Austin, Chicago, or White Plains, as those are the team's primary locations, unless a different location is specified in the job posting.
