The Senior Manager, PMO leads the oversight of a portfolio of high‑value renewable energy projects and programs across the United States. This role manages and mentors multiple project and program managers while establishing and enforcing PMO standards, methodologies, governance frameworks, and performance metrics. The Sr Manager partners with senior leaders and functional teams to ensure portfolio alignment with strategic objectives, funding priorities, and risk tolerance.

This role provides PMO leadership across the full renewable asset lifecycle—from site evaluation and development through construction, operations, repowering, and decommissioning. Responsibilities include portfolio planning, resource prioritization, risk and dependency management, schedule and cost control, and executive reporting. The Sr Manager ensures consistent project delivery practices, operational readiness, and asset optimization initiatives, supporting long‑term reliability, regulatory compliance, and value realization across wind, solar, and energy storage assets.

 

 Role Responsibilities:  

  • Leads a portfolio of high‑value projects and programs, ensuring consistent on‑time delivery, budget adherence, risk mitigation, and achievement of operational and business objectives
  • Defines, implements, and continuously improves project and program management frameworks, tools, and standard processes to enhance portfolio performance, governance, and reporting accuracy
  • Leads negotiations with key vendors and contractors, ensuring commercial terms, performance expectations, and risk allocation aligning with organizational objectives
  • Partners with senior leadership to establish strategic priorities for the Operations PMO, translating business goals into actionable portfolio plans and aligned resource strategies
  • Drives the adoption of lessons learned, best practices, and standard methodologies across programs, asset classes, and functional teams
  • Oversees vendor and contractor performance to ensure quality, safety, schedule compliance, and value delivery across the project lifecycle
  • Provides direction, coaching, and mentorship to managers and senior program managers, fostering a high‑performance, accountability‑driven PMO culture
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for program‑level risks, issues, and cross‑portfolio dependencies, providing executive‑ready analysis and recommended mitigation strategies

 

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®), Program Management Professional (PMP®), or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' experience, including prior people management experience including multiple teams and senior staff
  • Expert in program and project management tools, resource planning, and cross-functional leadership
  • Wind, Solar and/or BESS operational experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing a portfolio of high-volume programs and projects across the region
  • Experience shaping program frameworks and standards for regional adaptation
  • Broad operational and financial understanding of renewable assets
  • Ability to address high-complexity, high-volume regional program challenges
  • Aptitude in anticipating risks and implementing preventative strategies
  • Experience innovating solutions to recurring operational issues
  • Ability to coordinate and interface with senior leaders and department heads to ensure program alignment
  • Experience leading negotiations with key vendors and contractors
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites assigned 
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project (MS Project) and Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • This position requires travel domestically for visits to multiple RWE Americas site locations and/or offices
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
