The Sr. Engineer, Electrical Project Engineering, oversees the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design of balance of plant packages during development
  • Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
  • Grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
  • Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment
  • Power system modeling and studies
  • Coordinating project engineering topics during construction
  • Management of 3rd party engineering consultants
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts during the project lifecycle
  • Ensure that the highest level of health, safety, and environmental are incorporated into designs and standards
  • Support the development of electrical engineering standards
  • Support the development of engineering processes and procedures

 

Job Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program 
  • Advanced degrees can reduce technical experience requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience (post undergraduate) in electrical engineering. 
  • Specific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control. 
  • Experience in renewable generation (wind turbine, solar PV, and BESS storage) project design is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts

 

Work Environment:

This position is office-based, with some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
