The Senior Business Development Manager will support the Southern Regional Development team by providing market, customer, and policy intelligence; evaluating and managing the regional project portfolio; and leading strategic business initiatives across utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects in ERCOT, SPP South, MISO South, and SERC (GA).

This role will support key activities including product pricing, competitive analysis, market development, and M&A initiatives. The Senior Business Development Manager will work cross-functionally with Development, Commercial Analysis, M&A, Power Marketing, and Interconnection teams to assess opportunities, advance regional strategy, and support portfolio decision-making. The position will also be responsible for tracking progress against team goals, providing updates to executive leadership, and ensuring project and portfolio data remain accurate and current. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead internal analysis and develop materials to support strategic decisions, market intelligence, competitive assessments, and internal approvals for project gating and investment
  • Identify emerging trends and risks across target markets and create action plans to address them
  • Build strategic rationale to support internal approvals and project gating decisions
  • Drive origination and optimization efforts, including managing M&A development due diligence
  • Develop reports and dashboards to monitor progress against business goals and OKRs
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to align market assumptions
  • Forecast and communicate upcoming regional approvals and obligations to leadership
  • Coordinate regional budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring QA/QC of inputs and developing budget reports
  • Implement strategic tools, standards, and best practices across the development organization 

 

Job Requirements and Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in Business or Energy Policy preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience applicable to renewable energy infrastructure, preferably in ERCOT, SPP, MISO
  • Demonstrated history of communication with executive leadership 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage internal and external customer relationships 
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables 
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team 
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities 
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds 
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
