The Sr Asset Onboarding Manager coordinates the onboarding of utility-scale renewable energy assets (Solar, Wind and BESS) during the transition from Construction to Operations to ensure efficient integration of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Independent System Operator (ISO) market registration activities.
Role Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the onboarding activities of multiple internal and external teams to ensure PPA and ISO commercialization aspects of new projects are optimized during transition from Construction to Operations
- Critical Path Management: Maintains the master project transition schedule, tracking dependencies between construction milestones and contractual obligations
- Interdepartmental Alignment: Convenes and leads regular alignment meetings between Construction, Engineering, Operations, Commercial Ops, Market Operations and Asset Management to synchronize timelines for both PPA and ISO onboarding
- Issue Escalation Hub: Serves as the primary point of contact for resolving cross-departmental bottlenecks or resource constraints that threaten the project's timeline
- Information Handover Management: Coordinates the collection, indexing, and digital transfer of as-built drawings, operations manuals, and warranties from the construction team to the long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M) staff
Job Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelors or advanced degrees in Engineering or Business and Finance
- Project Management certification also a plus
- Minimum 8 years of proven experience
- Renewable Energy Industry Experience:
- Utility-Scale Exposure: Direct experience working on large-scale solar, wind, or battery energy storage systems (BESS) greater than 20MW
- Asset Management or EPC: Background working either for a renewable energy developer/owner, an Independent Power Producer (IPP), or a major EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractor

ISO/RTO Grid Integration Experience:
- Market Registration: Direct experience navigating the formal asset registration pipeline for at least one major ISO/RTO (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP)

Commercial & Contractual Experience:
- PPA Operationalization: Experience reading, interpreting, and implementing complex Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and hedge contracts
- Milestone Tracking: History of managing specific commercial project milestones, such as Initial Synchronization, Trial Operation, and Commercial Operation Date (COD)

Cross-Functional Coordination Experience:
- Matrix Environment: Proven track record of leading by influence rather than direct authority, managing inputs from diverse teams like Legal, Engineering, Construction, and Trading
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
